For various reasons / excuses(!) my 1992 Defender has been off the road for some time. I’m considering selling but value opinions on what it might be worth. It already has a galvanised chassis and good solid bulkhead, and was running fine albeit with a leaky transfer box and 200k+ miles. I started to replace the front shocks, springs & turrets and got one side done before I had to stop. I reckon it would need a new wiring loom, and the usual stuff, front doors etc getting corroded due to lack of use, I did put a new rear door on not long before though. Needs new body capping too.

Depending on how you get on, it might pay you to break it, engine alone with ancilleries/rads is worth 1k, check out defender 200 tdi engine parts prices on ebay etc.
Galv chassis must be worth the same.
Daft things like roof lining are worth money.

Unfortunately 200tdi have been taking a hit recently. They haven't been under £10k for a long time, seen quite a few now at a fair bit less than that recently.
Have a look on Ebay for a rough guide.

Same to you Grumps! I am, apart from the fact I need a new knee - pre op assessment next week. One of the reasons I haven’t been able to work on the 90 and my bikes!
That must be all those years playing in the front row for Scotland ;)

1 of our mates is an ex professional rugby player, huge bloke, but walking on artificial joints these days.

I'm doing fine. Keeping in good health, but still grumpy mind :D

Hope you've still got the Freelander. Getting quite a few converting to the Freelander section lately from the rusty forums. Seduced by reliability, economy and comfort ;)
