We have a 200TDi disco which will donate it's entire running gear from wheels through chassis to steering/gearbox/transfer box etc plus a 2a with a knackered chassis/engine/box etc....

So I'm looking at a medium term project of ripping the body off the disco and transplanting the body from the 2a onto the disco chassis. Has anyone else done this? I was going to build a bespoke loom at the same time using parts of the series loom (mainly connectors), an old defender loom, the disco loom and including the extras I want at the sane time.

Anybody done this before?

One of the magazines recently built one, they shortened the rear tub to make it fit the disco 100" wheelbase. Looked pretty good. Nice proportions, always thought 88/90 looked a bit short. The most work was adding outriggers and supports for the series bodywork.

Well I've got a 300TDi Disco 1 as a donor now and just looking for the series landy for the rest of the bits. This was always going to be a long term project :D

What happened to the 200tdi disco?

Instead of a IIa you should use a later III, they look similar but there's no sense in wasting a tax exempt series :)
