testin it furst. I think it needs some upgrading before use. Otherwise itll cheese me off beeping at me!

Also building a larger capacity coolant tank (with the sensor integrated into it)
The larger capacity means that topping up of the coolant can be reduced to a bi daily rather than daily task ;)
 
finally started working on fred over the weekend (well the sun was out and it was warm!!!)

he is up and running again, got a new water pump to go on, and his new upgraded inlet manifold and larger throttle body is sitting sitting in the boot ready for the bank holiday weekend.

Need to helicoil the inlet manifold studs in the head as 3 of them are fooked!!!
 
Well fred is getting there as a normal everyday car at the minute. I changed the cambelt and the waterpump all by myself.. i was really scared to start it up as i had never done a cambelt before so it was one of those "please god work" moments

Drives spot on and the upgraded throttle body has made a huge difference. I bought another freelander exactly the same age and spec for the mrs to run around in and it is quite alot more peppy than that one now.

At least now with her having a "normal" one... fred can now be turned into the car i want :)
 
hey sorry no internet at home at the minute, relying on tethering my phone to the pc and its damn slow!

Yep suspension will comprise of my own design of coilovers all round. I made suspension for my dakar bike a few years back as no one made anything suitable so might as well do it again! (its also much cheaper than buying some fancy ohlins etc for it!) Ill make units with longer travel but also lifted 40 or 50mm.

Today ive removed the leather rear seats. Combined they weigh the same as my missus!!! 44kg! (cloth ones might be a smidge lighter who knows?) anyway no longer need them!

Minimising weight on the cheap is a priority :) Front seats will have to come out too as fia spec ones need to be fitted. These will be much lighter also.

Next thing to remove is the AC system and I am replacing the glass sunroof with the GRP panels as these are lighter.

Need to look into the roll cage soon. Not built one before and want it to be nice looking!

Ive got a coolant level sensor installed and need to install a fire extinguisher system and electric shut off system.
 
Just to give you an idea, these are 3 different roll cages I've had fitted to my Freelanders.
Tornado Motorsport fully space framed and welded in, Safety Devices bolt in and Tornado Motorsport bolt in.
Last 2 pics are Tornado again, the same car as in pics 1-3.

not too bad, its fixable. The powder extinguisher makes it looks really bad, that and the sound insulation pad on the bonnet going up in smoke and making a right mess!
