Is the disco in the pic a working example or does it need sorting out?props chassis modding etc etc If not then bobtail the chassis and do a body swap.

Be extremely lucky if all it needs is prop mods ...

Yes I was wondering if the conversion has been done to this one?? or if the disco is just sitting on the axles waiting to be modded?? if it's a completed project. then it''s a no brainer..

I don't know, you offer advice to other people and yet this is causing you to procrastinate lol

I have recently read many articles about portal builds and one guy, who virtually lives in his land rover defender travelling around the world, spent two years developing his axles from scratch.

Is it a portal conversion on a standard axles or a portal axle from say a unimog or merc etc that has been fitted?

Portal conversions using a transfer box on a standard axle are unreliable so purpose built axles are only worth considering IMO.

Advantages are too easy to list, disadvantages are more money thrown into a project to get it working than it could be worth.

However if I had the opportunity to do it, then I would definitely do it and #### the consequences, besides its summer soon so you can take a few months to get it right.

If you do get it, I baggsy the chequer plate kit lol

I'm also waiting to hear bk from the guy selling it I gather it needs the mounts doin and props shortening as a start, the disco needs the usual sills and inner wings doin

after speaking to the seller it turns out hes hardly done any of the mods its just resting on the axles at the mo it needs new mounts fabricating,new spring seats fitting..custom props making up and one diff needs a rebuild..

way too much work for the asking price.

the disco may also look tidy but isn't in the usual places

It'd be a right bugger to move and transport anywhere too, then ..

Looking again though, it wouldn't need a lot knocking off the price to make it viable .. if you have the time, money, room and extra money to do it properly .. even if most of the Disco is scrap! I'd love a go at it, but haven't the garage room or the money!
