I've got a 1996 DSE that's driving me mad! i keep getting a message come up on the dash saying "left hand front door open" the weird bit is it only happens when its sunny/hot, iv'e removed the lock and cleaned and re greased all the linkages and pivot points no change. I would have thought that this should stop the suspension from raising? but its working perfectly, iv'e read all the posts i can find, but still can't find a solution. I,m thinking It could be an outstation/micro switch fault? any help/ ribbing is gladly accepted

Hi , find the white block connectors at the bottom of both left and right A frames at front interior of the rangie ,, unclip and check for mould or dry joints and give both sections of plug a good clean using a good electrical contact cleaner ,,, ( defo NO wd40 ) !!!!!!!!! . dry off and remove any debris and reconnect and try again to see if its disappeared ,,,ok best of luck let us know how you get on . kind regards Mozz

Thanks Mozz, iv'e cleaned the left hand side connections but didn't realise that the right hand side could affect it as well, will give them a good clean on Tuesday when i'm off, i'll keep you updated

Might be worth working through Marty's lock test scripts. The door ajar is part of the lock actuator but I am somewhat surprised it hasn't affected the EAS.

That's confusing me as well, as Mozz suggested i had a look at the drivers side kick panel wiring, there was some signs of corrosion on the larger of the two plugs, so i gave it a good clean with some contact cleaner, hasn't made a difference. I might cut the plug off and solder all the wires, but i'm due to do a long journey next week and i don't think i'll have enough time to do it, i'll have a look at Marty's test's and see if that helps, its driving me mad!!!!

Iv'e just spent an hour going through Marty's tests and it would appear that its the actuator that's kapoot. Iv'e left it unplugged for now although i don't know if that's a good idea or not? i suppose i'll have to try and find another one, Marty are you still refurbishing these? Thanks for all the advice given i now feel like i'm getting somewhere

I think this might be his webpage. http://p38webshop.co.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=60

IIRC he's away quite a lot but a friend has a key so can post one out if he has one in stock.

Thanks for that, i'm guessing i better check the part no on the duff one and get one ordered, the only good thing to come out of this is that i'm now a master at removing door cards without braking the clips!!

Sorry, just seen this - I'm away working at the moment and haven't even switched my laptop on all week until now!

I do still refurb door latches as/when I get the time/motivation to - which isn't as often as I would like! Work this year has been manic and I haven't had as much time at home to do RR bits as I'd like....

I get home on Sunday, but if you drop me an email on: [email protected] with the last 8 digits of your VIN number, and what latch you need (LHF from the looks of it!) I can have a look on Monday and see if I have one already on the shelf that's available to send, or if I need to build one - which if that's the case, I can try to give you an ETA, as I have a list of things to work through for people when I get home already!

Sorry I can't help sooner!
