problem removing alternator on p38 2.5dse help me please

light keeped on coming up on dash alternator falt so tested and it is f**ked so started to take it of loosend of the wires of the back then top and bottom bolts. Then i could not get it of because could not find a pertenchner or locker to stop belt moving and get it off help me please? ? ?

there's a tension pully at the top in the middle it's attched to the one of the 6 pulley wheels. slide a bar in it and pull it left or right can't remember. this will loosen the fan belt and you can take the alternator off and fit the new one. is that what you mean?

yea there is a bracket on a piston off the head is that the tensioner? Getting it recound.

yes that would be it! attached to a smooth roller (fan belt goes the opposite way around that one with the grooves of the fan belt on the out side) that's the tension roller. slide a bar from the left hand side through the hole under the tension spring and lift up and to the right, the smooth roller should spring off the belt and the whole lot will come loose. make sure if you don't know already you make a diagram of how the belt goes around all the pulley wheel before you loosen the spring.
