Probably first stupid question from a newbie

My box has the spiggot and I will probably install the lever at some point, but I've got though everything so far with traction control and mud tyres. When I get stuck I'll consider it, until then . . .:D
 
I'm off to Morocco later in the year visiting parts off the usual beaten paths, the last thing I need is to be stranded in sand.
I know this is going to upset some on here but when I've been out laning although in deep mud the first vehicles to get stuck have been disco's on 2 separate occasions both times my old Frontera has just driven through the same bits no problem.
The thinking behind getting the discovery was on longer road sections the vehicle would be more comfortable also off road parts like diff guards and snorkels are easer to source for land rovers than lutons finest.
In fairness the Frontera has a suspension lift and is fitted with 33" muds where at least one of the discoverys had no lift and was fitted with what looked to be standard wheels and all terrain tyres, I've been advised to keep away from aggressive mud tyres on sand and stick to A/Ts which was another reason to look at a vehicle with a diff lock.

now it's all a bit clearer!! you would be better with a LC4! more reliable!!:D
 
As the Australians say: If you want to go out in the bush, use a Landrover, if you want to come back, use a Toyota.
 
So, you really think Land Rovers are more reliable than Toyotas?

I'll fook off to a Jap forum. You can fook off to cloud cuckoo land.

Even so, I'd always prefer a Land Rover though.

thats too simplistic and this is a land rover forum not a souless jap forum
 
Simplistic maybe but borne out by all the surveys they do.

Don't get me wrong, I love Land Rovers and wouldn't part with mine for the world. They have attributes that Jap vehicles can never have. These days, reliability is such that I believe the difference between vehicles isn't so much of a factor.

Now I'm pulling up the drawbridge because I can see all the villagers storming up the hill with pitchforks and lighted torches. I'll have to escape out of the back. Shall I take the Toyota or the Land Rover........?

now there was no need for that, i started it by saying LC4, cos this guy was on about a Fronterra,
my opinion yes Toyota miles ahead of a landrover, i have a toyota hiace van
never cost me a penny, reliable 110%
now the LC4 i don't like the look of em, i like me disco's!! as much a problem as they can be, but now i think it is an age thing, over 40 and quiet happy to fook about with the landrovers,
but if i was going to morocco i wud want sommet reliable!! disco? lol:D
