IMO most of the time it's more hastle than it's worth. Unless you have access to a laser scanner to replicate the part into a 3D model it can take hours to create the design. Printed parts are not as strong or well finished as injection moulded parts. I tend to print things like Ecig holders that fit in the coin tray, sat nav mounts, etc. I did print some ends to replace the rubber ones on the height sensors which worked ok. Sent some to another member of this site but I think I forgot to put the metal sleve in the centre before I posted them  at least they were free, and he hasn't said anything so may have been ok.

I don't know enough about the subject but has anyone looked at 3D printing those hard to find plastic parts or sub components?
I sometimes watch 'retrorestore' on the utube, amongst other things he has neared the end of a truncated restoration of a Triumph Acclaim whereby he needed some roof trim end caps which are now obsolete and a viewer kindly printed some for him.

Handy tech.

There is even metal 3D printing now!

You appear to to be painting a picture about Drew whom I don't know, time will tell if this is something I'm willing to be drawn on.

Think it was called Salvage Hunters or something like that he normally does furniture and antiques but did a series on cars he's based in Wales...

Have printed many a part that are hard to get for people I know. Just depends on the printer and material and, of course, the part.
