Np if you had a lot of projects I'd point you in the right direction but your be at least £3k down by the time you bought a PROPER Blast pot and compressor
And the CFM is about 120:)

Grinder with flat and cup wire brushes, takes about 30 mins to bare metal including all around the mounting bolts.

Who you trying to kid ?

I been doing this for years if you think a wire brush on a grinder is going to make something like this , the diff probably be as bad

Look like this in half an hour

Then your dreaming !

When i do things I do it properly!

Get the axle acid dipped like I did. £35 - JFD.

Then paint it up like so:

JFD. :D

Meh. That was 'cos I didn't get the paint on them soon enough.
Doesn't take long for the moisture to start turning them again!

When they come out my work shop you could leave them for a year and they wouldn't rust as long as you don't get them wet its called zinc phosphate ;)

I will be in contact 2 complete axles to strip and refurb.

Ok let's get this into perspective he's says £35
First off you can't dip an un stripped diff unless you want to ruin it .
So the time spent doing that ....

Secondly how do you ensure you have removed the residue , remember it strips paint only way is wash it your back to square one rust
Ps never dip cars or panels !
Unless you want the paint to peel in the near future , its gets in all the seams .

You would only need to strip it if it needed rebuilding if you bring a diff in masked up with duck tape over sensitive areas 3 layers for safety. Makes it easy removal as the top layer could get deformed , makes removing tape easyer .
Always drain oil we don't like mess

I could do a dif with a costing between 35/45

Unmasked £50

Stripped / steamed cleaned of oil £ 25/30:)

I'm not sure I get your 'diff stripping' comments.
I simply unbolted mine and removed as normal. 10 minute job.

Obviously the acid dipping option only applies if you intend on removing the entire axle and not refurbing in situ.
Depends how far you the op wants to go.

So you dipped it with crown wheel still in seals in ect ect ? That's what I mean you have to do the shell only my way you don't it is more cost effective if your not rebuilding the diff does that make sense now. :p

No!

The diff was removed in its entirety and went nowhere near the acid.
Only the absolute bare AXLE casing was dipped.
