How does that work then :confused:

I presume it comes off the rear of the transfer box, if so then I could use some of that technonogy to drive a rear wheel drive only off a landy box.:cool:

There is a diff in there anorl so you would have to lock it up, but the transfer box sends it forward to the front axle:confused:

Dont know if you can drive all the time with diff lock on rear wheel drive either.

Just noticed you said power take off, thats different, trucks have em and they are bolted to the side of the gearbox to drive such things as tipper pumps, water pumps etc, never seen anybody use one to drive a vehicle, most of the time they are used in neutral and they kick out if you try to drive off or they get munched.

Been a few nastys where they have remained in and the tipper body has jacked up driving along the road taking out bridges.

Idea was to chop the diff bit off the transfer box, plate it and just use the drive that comes out the back of the box. Not possible then.

How does the power take off get to the back bumper then and how is it driven?
 
Seen some pics of a six wheel Land Rover and the rear axle is driven off the P.T.O. coming out the back of the transfer box so there must be a way that a Landie gearbox can be used to drive just the rear wheels using a cut down transfer box housing. Or maybe I'll just buy a Rover P6 gearbox..:rolleyes:
