Hi i am a new member i have a defender 90 it is losing powqer steering fluid! Fluid appears to be foaming and coming out of the vent in the resevoir cap. is this a new pump issue? or something else. Would be very grateful of any advice. cheers iscoydchoc

foaming usually means its getting low mate keep it topped up ,my 90 tends to leak from the banjo joint copper washer on the pump , if no joy there clean any muck off to make it easier to see any pin hole leaks and trace the pipes checking all the way back to the reservoir and steering box below the reservoir you should spot any obvious leaks as red fluid.hope this helps

Hi, I'm interested in adding power steering to my 110 Tith.
I've procured the proper steering box. Now considering, if I go the hydraulic route, whether to use an engine driven pump or an electric one.

If there's a solution that reduces parasitic loss, I'm open to that.

Ideally, I'd install either a modern EPS system or a ram.

The latter is prohibitively expensive, from what I can tell. Perhaps someone can name a supplier of hydraulic rams, with built-in valves, that can be bolted on?

An EPS system seems to require cutting and welding the steering column. That's probably outside my skillset at the moment, but I'm willing to learn.

Open to suggestions.
