power steering problems

hello! My power steering suddenly cuts out.If i park the car for some hours it is ok.It has happened with two occasions in two weeks.The sensor is new,and also the pump.Is it someone here with the same faults?

Possibly the steering rack Servotronic Valve - this device is what controls the assistance amount for a given vehicle speed....could be sticking!!

And don't think just coz the sensor etc is new that it is not faulty

i bought this car only two weeks ago.The seller will buy a overhauled steering rack and install it for free.I hope this will make it ok.

Don't think it's the steering rack itself

Could likely be the power steering pump ? They are known the fail

I've got a similar issue to you mate. Often, when I first start her up, the power steering goes super-heavy. Typically, if I then turn her off and then turn the ignition again, its works fine. From previous advice, I've checked the PAS levels and its on the mark - without looking/ smelling burnt out. I can live with it, but would like to find a solution.

Hello mate! I will go to a landrover service on wednesday.Hope they will give me a diagnosis on this problem.I have a guarantee on my car,so i don`t have to pay anything for this.Hope i can come back to you with some answers.

I had my rangie at the garage on wednesday.Of course it was no power steering error that day,so i have to come back later when they have a rental car for me.Next time they will have my car for some days until the error arrives.

Hello! Now my rangie is at the workshop.In the meanwhile i have to drive a 2001 jaguar x type 3,0.They think they have found the troublemaker.Earlier they changed the servo pump and the pressure sensor.It is the speed unit in the abs that makes trouble.My abs is also defect because of this.The seller checked the price on a new abs module in Norway.£ 1300.He thought it was too expensive,so he looks after a used one,or overhauling the old one.Is it someone of you out there who knows if the abs speed unit is placed together with the pump,or under the seat? Thankful for answers! Have a nice weekend !

Now the workshop has comed to theconclusion that it is the abs ecu unit that makes the trouble.Now i am waiting for a new ecu.

Now the workshop got a used abs ecu from your country.I t took 24 hours before the power steering stopped again.It always happen some times when i start the car.I have also "hdc inactive" when i start the car after it has been parked for 8-10 hours about.Is this maybe a abs sensor or? Thankful for answers from you "specialists" out there.

its a long shot try resetting the steering angle again to see if hdc goes out,could be battery problems if it only does this after standing

Yep could be a duff battery now

Or loose battery terminals..
