Hi all, last week I found power steering fluid on the drive from my 1991 200tdi defender so I looked and found the steel pipe was coroded at the bottom along the chassis so I ordered a new one at a cost of £30.09. I dont think I can see a problem in fitting this but how does it bleed?, any tips in making this an easy process? The pipe is the thin one.

Cheers

Jack the front wheels off the ground.
Fill the reservoir with power steering fluid.
Start the engine and slowly turn the steering from lock to lock.
Keep turning and checking the fluid until the level settles.
Job done.

cheers done it but need to re rivit one of the pipe holders to the chassis. it made a noise at first then it stopped. seems ok

Sounds normal - the pump will whine and things when it's pumping dry - pushing fluid with air in it about etc...

Rivet - is it not bolted into a rivnut?
