What about exhaust manifold gasket or blocked cat ?

I'd remove the rear boot carpets, take off the inspection plate (6 screws that are often rusty and a b'stard to get out) and check the fuel tank to fuel pipe connections. They often crack and let air in.

If the air filter got wet, it might have knackered it. Did you change it before or after you got it wet? It's possible the engine might have ingested some water. Just enough to cause a hydraulic and bend a push rod or valve. Its unlikely but could happen. Check all the valve clearances. Anything bent would show up as increased clearance and that would reduce power.

Have de-catted some time ago before lack of power showwed up.
Manifold gasket changed when Head gasket done .

Have not checked this yet but will do .Currently got eye infection from crap falling into eye when cleaning the sedimentor.
Can they be replaced or repaired ?
Did blow through sedimentor to pump pipe and thats OK DID not check the fuel return pipes at all can these be ruled out or do i need to check them ? Sedimentor had some gunge in the bottom but did look clean enough .
Use to put cooking oil in tank before it got expensive 70/30 split at most .
There is a mention of a lift pump tweak what is this .
If i run the engine with the pipe off to the filtre for a short time what sort of flow rate should i get or will this just cause loss of suction to the Injection pump ?

Rave has suggested that i re-tension the timing belt after the first tension applied and rotated but with the IP bolts loosened .As i missed this out the first time how important is it .Both timing pins can be inserted by hand at the same time .

Is it worth just buying a new lift pump ?

sorry to butt in, but this does sound lift pumpy if you cannot get the fuel quick enough to the injector pump it will be running lean (hence lack of smoke and power) i had a leak in a pipe a while ago between the turbo and intercooler and you could hear it although it was'nt a huge leak power dropped too. Also sometimes the wastegate can stick open on the turbo allowing pressure to escape and dropping boost right off, when this happend to me after giving the old girl a good bootful it felt like i had no turbo hope this helps

The only thing I can think of is to take the top off the IP and clean out oil and check diaphragm isn,t stuck . Dont rotate the diaphram position or you will mess up the fueling.

Have removed IP top (Screws needed an impact screwdriver to loosen) it was clean and the diaphragm did move up and down but took more effort than i expected though can be done with fingers.
I did alter the OFF idle boost by 1 1/2 turns to see if this increased the torque but it did very little ,The same amount of smoke came out as before with no increase in power.
Didnt go any farther until replies from forum ,But there does seem to be a lot of possible movement to enrice the mixture .should i go further ?

The LIFT pump .It does say that when priming ,pump it until some resistance is felt .There is no resistance .But engine starts and appears primed .max speed is 70 and no more but this needs a long run up .May change it but dislike spending on the off chance
