As in how expensive!The UJ's are bloody expensive!
haha ok correct me if im wrong but dont a split charge system charge the starter battery first and then the winch/leisure battery? and it wont let the winch use up the starter battery? so then he has the same problem of an empty winch battery if he keeps his alternator.
But ye redhands right do check ur existing alternator output.

I think some of the yokes are knackerd aswell. No one has greased them because you cant seem to get a grease gun in to them.Take one to a bearings manufacturer and get em matched for a fraction of the price, peeps like Winchsolutions charge
Anyone using a electric winch is going to have the problem of flat batteries if winches for more than couple of minutes. even an 100amp alternator won't keep up with a winch on full draw. Yu can get round it by using snatch blocks. which reduces the strain on the winch and the drain on the battery.

Does it involve;
A. A Grinder with assorted cutting discs
B. An assortment hammers
C. Blow torch
D. Non of the above.
If D is correct I cant do it!

The simple answer to your question is that you are not going to find an alt that will keep up with your winch when pulling for a long time(look at the size of the cable comming from your alt!). An electric winch is designed to get you a couple of feet out of a ditch etc. NOT for hauling long distances. - thats what an engine is for - use a rope and use the low range and drive!!!!!!!!!!!
