So borrowed Fuel Injection PUMP fitted

Drove to barn and back better but not right, mate drove it, his words not a happy landy, he thought injectors, i popped bonnet diesel everywhere.

Loose injector pipe

Couple of runs loads better.

however now a massive oil leak..

debating if i should swap the injectors for my mates and send it all to Diesel Bob

Oil leak appears to be off the cooler pipes..

Investigate that tomorrow, had had enough at 2pm and had a trailer full of logs to unload that the missus had split whilst i was landy fixing..#

So today fixed the oil leak from oil cooler pipes, Removed the viscous fan and cowling to get better access, afeter fitting and refitting still leaks so used a rubber o ring as well, that cured it

Truckwash and super hot steam clean to get rid of oil under the bonnet & around radiator

Stripped my mates head of glow plugs and injectors.

They came out easy on bench

Took my injectors out one at a time and changed them, discovered two duff return pipes that split in two when i removed them

lot more challenging with engine in vehicle for the back 2, especially when the o ring falls off in the bore

All fitted and it ran but am chuffing like a train and diesel is vapourising round no 1

Guess eitehr o ring stuffed or not quite fitted right, removed it an refitted it..

Still not right but better..

Had to dash off for a Teams video conferance which took remainder of afternoon.

Guess that will be tomorrow job followed by tracking it

The oil cooler pipe fittings should have O rings in mate!

I would defo have the injectors serviced at Bob's if you've got the shekels. My No4 injector took a bad turn and carped the whole engine. I should have had mine serviced in good time

Yeah going to send them with the FIP for a check at the very least, reckon my mates engine will be a month for strip down and rebuild.

So got an opportunity to get mine fixed whilst hopefully getting it MOT and using it a bit.
However the 90 FIP are still at Bob's could do with them back first and get that on the road. Also so i know how much it is going to be, as he is trying to make one good one from 2 but still need lots of new bits was last email conversation.

how is he time wise normally for a FIP ?

No idea, not had mine done yet. It's in the list of things to do. That is if I don't take the roof off and use it for planting shrubs first. :)
Does it not say something on his website about how long things take? Years since I've looked mind!

So MOT is booked for Thursday lunchtime. Fingers Crossed fellas

Spoke to Diesel Bob today, busy boxing my FIP and injectors off this 110 to send to him.

Good news is my 90 pump is repairable, well 1 out of 2 duff ones and some new bits and should hopefully be back to me end of week.

Could be a good week..or NOT

Told me brakes were best on any Land Rover he had driven this year... and he had a disco 2 in the yard and a range rover sport that had failed on handbrake..

But new brake pad, disc and callipers all round and a complete brake fluid change clearly helped./.

So happy with that got drivers door fitment to sort out, headlining and trailer socket to rewire.

Then waiting on my FIP back from Diesel Bob and injectors thenshe is all good.

Debating on toys then...snorkel / MUd dash and stereo. Got an LED lightbar that came as a xmas present still in a box o fit on either 110 or teh 90.

Mate gave me a bit of dash today will have to google what it is

wasn't sure if it was a raptor dash or something, it is not a mud one.

been hanging my nose over the mud one and a double din stereo for ages waiting on MOT and verdict etc...
Ahh, with you. Can't remember which one, but one of them you have to do some cutting of the original dash, IIRC.

One of them days

Plan this afternoon was fix diesel weep from sender unit, new trailer sockets and refit towbar to chassis arms. put a screw in no plate

So sender was finger tight my mate turned up with 7 core cable and we cracked on.

ended up with broken indicator but trailer socket etc all done, looks bang tidy.
Went to fuel station on way home.. was busy filling up when happened to look underneath diesel pouring out. switched pump off and ran inside paid, drove home asap an
got a bucket underneath it and have spent the evening checking the leak.
now down to drips have got 3/4 of a jerry can out of the bucket.

Going to see if i can wiggle sender out a bit and dry it an see if gasket is stuffed etc.

Worse case reckon i might have to take tank out.. that will be plan Z as the back bolts are a sod to fit with the cradle, tank and then the rubber bush to all line up.

So hopefully my mate was fitting LED to his 90 today, might gain his old indicator off him when he fits my new gas boiler tomorrow..

Fitted the ball hitch and step today to the dixon bates plate of my towbar

And fitted a new Indicator unit to the rear of the motor.

My mate fitted my boiler today and i fitted his LED indicators for him.

hence got his old one

Diesel leak down to a drip just under half tank left..
