On my Disco 200TDI there is slight pull to the left and also when I break there is excesive pulling to the left. I also have some very strange tyre wear on the ourside front. I have tried a couple of tyre places to get the tracking checked but both have refused to look at it. Any ideas where I can go with this one?

Thanks

if any vehicle pulls one way or another isnt it a brake problem?? Outside front could be tracking or maybe tyre pressure ?? As hokus said get it checked out by ATS they are pretty good.

does sound like your tracking is out adjust it then if it still pulls under braking then its a brake problem as well .when the wheels are pointing dead straight ahead does the steering wheel sit central thats how i adjusted mine after fitting a track rod end and it seems fine no tyre wear.you can make a simple tracking devise ive seen the stockcar drivers with very simple ones made from a bit of 1''box section and some steel bar.why wouldnt 2 tyre places touch it?are your pressures correct? with the pressures correct and the wheels facing dead stright put a set square against the rearwall of the tyres on both sides then against the tyre wall at the front make chalk marks on the floor where the straight line of the tyre wall meets the floor, move your disco and measure between the chalk lines front and back,if the measurement is different then adjust the trackrod ends until its the same,a crude method but you wont be far out, :D phoooow:cool:

tyre pressure, worn shock, knackered spring, bent chassis, sticking brake, different tyres on each side these are just afew of the possible causes but i doubt that it is tracking as you steering will always try to centre itself so if any thing it would be jumping all over the place if yer tracking was out by a lot.

Thanks for your replies I will look into things a little more, in reply about the tyre places not wanting to look at it, they said that it is realy difficult to do on the Landrovers I dont se why it is any different to any other car.

series 3 are probelly one of the easiest vehicle to do as for the disco i wouldn't know but i doubt it can be hard. what is there to be hard? about it unless like the jag xj40 you have to pull the front down to a certain height( well thats wot the book says) but as i couldn't be gassed doing that i just set it up and adjusted it till it felt right, only took me 4 goes. when it was checked somemonths later at the nearest jag dealer(50 miles away) it was bang on. first check is to look at tyres to see if they are wearing on the outer or inner edges. if they are wearing on the outer then you have too much toe-in and too much toe-out for inner wear.
