you'll need to soak those in penetrating fluid several times and get the braket hot - very hot, then spray with more fluid and be ready fo it all to catch fire. The shock sucks the oil inot the crevices. If you have a nearby motor factors see what an exchange unit costs, they could be your cheapest option.

Get some penetrating oil like RP 90 or just paint with diesel, better than WD40 in many ways.
Got neither i'm afraid and start work tomorrow which puts me in the house from 7-7 all day for 4 days. Hopefully the WD40 will do. Thanks.

Wait, what? Sounds a tad risky to me. I think i'll stick to wd40. Halfrauds came through, had the right tool for the job. I was thinking maybe the weight of the alternator was making it harder to move the bolts out. So was going to wedge it up and have a crack at it.

Don't forget the third bolt, that's the really hard one.

Would it be worth just taking he whole bracket off? Or is that even more a PITA?

Just asking don’t know the arrangement.

I thought that, seemed even more of a pain though

UPDATE:

The bitch is out.

Bolts were seized up and needed a flathead and spanner combo with plenty of lubing up.

Next question if I may. Removing the electrics from the unit. I assume the plug pulls straight outwards? It's very stiff and I didn't want to do anything that may cause damage if I was unsure. So give it a good stiff pull? Or is there a tab i'm missing or similar?

Getting them off is a right b@stard unless you have extremely long arms and dislocateable fingers. I started taking mine off months ago and gave up. Either the wing needs to come off or the front panal and rad. I've got one bolt left to do but then I've got to put the new one back on. If I had somewhere better to work on it, I'd take the flipping engine out and be done with it.

Col
Better yet, didn't have to remove the wing or rad. ****ing sweet!

It pulls straight out. Supposed to be a wire clip that holds it in, looks like yours is missing which is common.

Actually...I might be wrong, been years since I've seen one like that looking closer.
The box may have a removable lid that will have the spade terminals under it and you will have to pull them off.

errrrr i'll try all of those things. thanks. I haven't disconnected the battery yet however I have a battery immobiliser in the cab. which is set to off. Just to be safe though, I think i'll take your advice. :D

I still have an alt plug like that, it just pulls off but can be tight [ bit of corrosion ] and take a bit of wiggling to release.

I assume the snotty crap in there is to help prevent water ingress? Either way, it's been wrapped in cling film just incase

Either way, properly out now. Gonna swing by Havant Motor Factors tomorrow and hope they have something like for like. If not could anybody reccomend a replacement without it being on ebay? IE paddocks, craddocks, bearmach, LR direct etc? I have mistrust of fleabay.
