Hi all, hope you all had a good Christmas. So I got all excited when it started snowing in my neck of the woods, finally I would be the smug git passing the rear wheel drivers. Only problem is it won't start, goes through the usual cold start procedure but when it comes to turn over...nothing. All that happens is the hazards flash twice and the usual clicks. After that everything goes back to as if I had just got in the car (picture on the dash) I have the battery on charge at the moment hoping thats the issue. Also would a failing battery throw random warnings on the dash as well? When starting it the other day I had about 6 faults flag after a cold start, everything from assisted braking to traction control errors. Gave it the off and on again procedure and all was fine.
Its a 2010 L322 TDV8 3.6

Had mine ( 2011 4.4 tdv8) throw a fit the other morning.

So bad it would not even unlock, put another battery on and it is fine.

When I was trying to get it running using a 2nd battery to add juice it did what you described , all the faults, would not turn over.

Now just got to see what caused the battery drain, lots of stop start driving and a fbh running plus the first few decent frosts of the year? or a drain?

Had it with ours.
The answers yes get a new battery. Bigger than standard is betterer.

Strangely, the LR dealer supplied and specified battery is slightly smaller in terms of Ah compared to the original. 90Ah rather than 95Ah.

Physically still an 019. Exide rather than Varta iirc, both AGM.

I seem to remember something about battery recalls, as ours said it was on its second. Found out when we told it it’s got a new battery;)
We fitted this, it was what was available.

Had to rearrange the mega fuse setup to get it all in.

Thats a big one.....ooooerr missus..... They say an 020 will fit with a little bit of effort, but LR are still supplying an 019.

The manky one you swapped out is literally the same as I have just got from LR. Is the new Bosch an AGM?

I understand the early ones had a recall to change to AGM batteries.

The cold always finds a duff battery, when you start the car and the battery is weak the starter will rob the Ecu's of their power causing coms and voltage problems left right and center.
 
Surely describing a battery as a 019 is a bit like saying LR without specifying the model.
019 spec. batteries are available in many AH & CCA ratings.

It was the battery, thanks for the help. Going to grab a multimeter and see if anything is failing.
On another note, now my battery is charged I am going to try and get my FBH to work again. Anyone know how much fuel is needed in the tank for the FBH to work? I have heard that it wont start unless you have a certain amount of fuel in the tank. It has worked in the past but just lately the fans kick in but no FBH. Its not massively important but I start work at 5am and it would be nice to get into an already defrosted warm car

Not knowing anything about your model I can't help with the technical questions, but I can comment on the first line of your thread (smug git etc)
One problem of 4x4 ownership is that your ability to make progress in snow is often hampered by the very 'rear wheel drivers' you mention obstructing your passage. If the road is blocked your vehicle's ability is off little consequence & it's worth pointing out that a well driven front-wheel-drive car with appropriate tyres can be the equal (or even surpass) a 4x4 in certain circumstances. Many years before any LR ownership (& winters were far worse than now) I went pretty much anywhere in snow whilst driving RWD cars/trucks/buses with the minimum of fuss.

Very true, only mentioned it as I had nothing but BMW's for the last 16 years. I was THAT person blocking the road. The RR is my first step away from german RWD cars and I love it.

How much fuel do you have in her? No vehicle likes below 1/4 tank, which I'm not suggesting you're doing , but just in case. Personally, I run that 1/2 tank is empty. Old habit from no 24hr stations, and now living where petrol station opens for 4hrs a day , 4 days a week.
