ported inlet manifold

Hi guys, all new to here so just working my way around it still. I have built track cars in the past and I found good gains from modifying the inlet manifolds!! I'm just wondering has it been done on the 300 lump?? Obviousy they get all gunked up with ****e and they will always benefit from a good clean out. But I used to cut manifolds open with a band saw and then port and pollish them all out increasing the size of it slightly and allowing the air to get into the engine faster etc. Made a fair bit of difference on the ones I've done in the past I also used to do the ported and pollished butterflys and throttles.
 
Just noticed your avatar so I'm guessing that you have a v8!! Which also isn't a race car so I'd never bother with them only good thing about them is they sound lovely!! But its not all about speed its about having a reliable economical engine and things like that will help the engine to breath easier
 
I have a V8 but its not up and running fully yet, engine runs but thats no use without the body bolted on :rolleyes:


The difference is its a disco V8 in a series which weighs a lot less so that makes it faster! I was thinking more along the lines of a 6.2 or a 4.2LSE if you want power and speed in a disco
 
I get 15-28mpg on diesel depending on town or motorway…..v8 wont be much worse on motorway and cheaper to fill the tank, town will be worse but I can live with that and LPG at worst

What was the run time on that running V8.......... 45 seconds:rolleyes::rolleyes: Think you got more to do than just bolt the body on:rolleyes:

That depends on how much time you can be arsed sparing to do the work…..considering I'm not running a standard set up by any means.

The slam panel is custom as is the radiator now as I didn't like the way the original fitted
