check the caliper pistons havent siezed into the body, renew pads (may be contaminated) and bleed the system again, might be air. also check the condition of the flexi hoses, if they start to deteriorate that can cause poor braking performance.

aye but ee sed it was all renewed last year and was still ok mechanically so that would mean the pistons are working and the system is free of air. and if the hoses are only a year old then they too should be in good nick unless they are cheap taiwan replacments.

am thinking he needs to check how much was renewed and if the parts were fitted correctly. it might be the pads are reet cheap and worn down quickly. it could also be that a jack has been placed incorrectly and crushed a pipe.

yer i know what he said, but i just dont trust it... unless he did the work himself. all it is is is is a simple series of checks to eliminate the obvious :) i would do it to satisfy myself.

aye ah was saying the same thing meself so would yer say he needs to check wot wur done in the furst place followed by a check it wur dun proper like? know wot ah mean?

OK further to this post... ALL componants eccept the brake pedal and pedal box were replaced last april by myself with quality componants, and before you ask, yes i have plenty of experience of working with landrovers, so no they wernt installed upside down, back to front or swapped from a mini metro, etc.

Did speak to a really helpful chap today and it turns out that the standard vac pump on a gmc v8 is pants, so am on the lookout for an electric vac pump. Along with retro fitting rear calipers and discs to the back axle, with a few other minor mods.

Now does anyone have an electric vac pump from a suprecharged rangerover laying around in need of a new home?

Chin up and soldier on. lol

so why was it all renewed and are yer sure it was all renewed. if the pads wint bedded in properly that can cuase glazing or hardening of the pad surfaces which would give yer poor braking.
if your sure all the calipers are working as they should and that yer have no air in the system try taking the pads out and roughing them up, (no david451!! not that way) just get some glasspaper and give em the once over to remove any glazing that may have built up.
if yer still got problems after that come back and we'll abu....er! help yer somemore

(NO DAVID451)

Not what way slob?, it transpires that the vacuum and servo system is at fault, so yer can put yer sand paper away, and who sent him in that direction. Wasn't in the ladybird book either.
