Hi just wondering....as mentioned I have water coming in my disco 2 and settling in the front nr side footwell very close to the where the door opens same place at the rear footwell same side.

Opposite sides are bone dry as is the boot. Don't know where to start really.

Kind regards David

I too have had a little puddle on my front mat. Right in the middle of the mat, carpets dry, as though it has dripped from above. Ah sunroof I thought. This was in the autumn and we have since had the wettest spell for years and there is no sign of any more puddles. Weird?

Had a wet patch exactly like this recently.

Where the front passenger door strap goes into the pillar, there is a hole covered by a small U-shaped piece of ribber. This became detached at the top edge letting water into the frame and then into the car via a hole at the bottom. The water ran down the left hand edge of the floor making the rear carpet damp as well.

The rubber cover can be seen without removing anything so easy to check.

+1, also if A post drain under car is blocked it will fill up until it runs into the car,

Both front and back does suggest sunroofs, but also check the headlining along the top of the windscreen.

I had paint bubbling on the outside, so lifted the screen rubber to sand down and zinc prime.

I then had a bit of a leak for a few weeks while the rubber settled back down.

water from front will run to rear if parked level our nose in the air!

Rear sunroof will normally leak into the boot carpet not the centre row.

I agree about the top of the windscreen though. If it's not the door straps I would look at that next. There is a landrover repair procedure for it somewhere.

OK thanks for the help people but I am still non of the wiser. I am really sorry for being a bit thick here, but what front strap seatbelt ?? Post drain underneath...whereabouts. Both my sunroofs have been sealed by the previous owner some Im assuming I can rule them out or would this be a mistake.. The two upper side windows I have been told might be the problem. Thing is the boot bone dry. I have tried to have a look where the seat belts are fixed to the side pillars but this is a bit of a nightmare without a manual... a cant even see how they come off.

A little more help pleeeeeese......

Kind regards

David

Not the seat belts. The door straps.

In between the two hinges for the front passenger door is a flat metal piece that slides in and out of the door itself causing it to "hold open" at set points and also stop it opening too far. This is the door strap.

Check the car end of this strap (where its hinged onto the door frame) and you should see the u-shaped rubber cover we mentioned. Or not as the case may Be seeing as you have a leak ;)

Many thanks Jordan......feel a bit of a dumbbell now but I know exactly where you are on about.....have checked all four and can not really see anything missing. The straps all look the same, looks like they have a black like spongey rubber fitted just where they enter the door frame, either they are all missing are they are all OK. To be honest cant really see any rubber shaped u bend rubber covers on any of the hinges. If we are on about the same thing then all mine are fine / or worse I haven't any. Hope that makes sense. Have had a look at the front sunroof as there seems to be a lot more water at the front footwell where it meets the frame but puddle only goes into the car a several inches, the further I move back into the back footwell, water still there but not as much. like mentioned the front sunroof I think is bolloxed basically, it has been sealed with clear sealer where the rubber meets the bodywork but has also been sealed where the glass actually meets the frame, This would not have allowed the sunroof to open at all but I have just forced it open ( the sunroof ) and its obviously broke the seal. Water is probably going to P*** in either way now unless I re seal it again before we get any rain.

many thanks for your help I will let you know how I get on.......

regards

David

i would think you would be best taking all your roof linning out, then the complete sunroof frames and resealing em again! properly with some silaflex, you may have to wait until spring or when it finally stops f-----g raining! have a look under the car right behind front wheel/cill look for a small hole into bottom of a post, right under/in line with door hinges, there is a drain hole, if blocked a post will fill up until it runs into the car, take the trim off inside the car, passenger side footwell by your feet on the side, the run hose pipe over the roof and see where the water goes/comes in,
