You have reached your max capacity........... a 1500lb caravan empty weight would soon weigh in at 2200lbs + soon you have overloaded it and are putting a strain on you cooling system and drive train plus could be illegal as you have exceeded the specs and insurance could denies any claims

I pull a 1600kg caravan with my 06 Freelander TD4 and have not needed any chips necessary. My previous caravan at 1500kg flew along also. But as said the Synergy 2 box from rover Ron is the one to go for if needed.

Ps the Freelander can pull up to a max 2000kg

how much weight do you think you add when you are packed for a trip. food, fuel, water and clothes, toys ets?

Very minimal food is bought when we arrive on site, fuel goes in the car which is a benefit as it adds the the kerb weight, cloths add around 30/40kg for two about the same as allowed on a plane, never carry water always collected on site, and no toys as we have grown out of them now lol.

Ps, forgot to say the quantity above are for a two week stay 1 week or weekends considerably less. Basic food ie milk cereal for breakfast, tea and coffee, and a loaf of bread and something to make a sandwich to tied us over until shopping done.

I've got an Al-ko ATC unit for sale if any body is interested. It's for a caravan with an MPTLM 1301kg to 1500kg asking £250 +£10 delivery.

I purchased this ATC, for my caravan then realised I needed the next weight model up so had to purchase another one.

Comes with everything needed to install to your caravan and is very easy to fit.
