Fair point

But I don't think 2k is ridiculous
I think its different upcountry, in the more affluent areas there are all kinds of vehicles for sale. Cetainly right down here there would only be a handful of landys for sale at any time within a hundred mile drive. And anything half good value would be snapped up. Most are dogs off farms or been offroaded to death.
When I used to work on forestry work upcountry I would always try and buy a landy to sell down here, a tidy one from surrey that has only towed a horsebox now and again use to sell well down here, I always made a profit!
I very much doubt if there are any good Tdi for sale within 100 miles of here at this time.

There are a few on ebay at the moment but there all either a 200/300tdi or td5's

I am after a hi-cap but i want either a 200 or 300 in it. Or if not it would have to be a low enough price to reflect this.

I thought the 19j had problems with cracks or something? something to do with land rover just bolting the turbo on the 2.5NA?

Anyway, take a look on ebay for prices, but really its worth what anyone is willing to pay for it :(
2.5 are fine if it is a good engine and if it is carefully maintained! Coolant and oil systems need to be 100% and the turbo needs to be good not with fautly seals so the engine can eat its own oil and runaway.
The big issue is power, they only develop about 85 horse as against 110 for a 200, so if you want to do lots of high speed road work it aint ideal.
They arent as bad as people say, a mate has done 150,000 in his, mine is low mileage but I have towed this to Carlisle and many other places without issues.

Yep, I had a quick look on eBay and there's 3 within 100 miles and they all look ragged

I don't know where he's trying to sell it, but he could flog it down here I reckon

Hi chaps.

I've been out to see them tonight - mainly to get a feel for the situation, which thankfully isn't too bad - though things won't be the same again.

I cleaned the landy and took plenty of pictures that I will upload tomorrow - I can't deal with flikr and img codes on my phone....

I'm almost certain the chassis has never been welded, and futhermore it doesn't require any patches.

It is an ex Siemens vehicle that has covered 96k miles - the last 10k in our ownership and mostly me driving.

She has been serviced every year and I'd be amazed if my step father couldn't produce the receipts for these. She is as genuine as they come.

Pics tomorrow - but probably not until I've walked the dog on my lunch.

There is one on my profile come to think of it...

nice vid of you wading it with an unsealed snorkel as well   Let's hope you took better care of the rest of it ;)

not being funny, but your family situation has nothing to do with value, else every ebay advert would have that as an included description. not that i am unsympathetic. :)

Also, your say so on chassis, engine, etc is no good. Most people will want to view it and check for themselves.. so probably local area and hence local values.

If you've watched the video you see the water level remained below the standard air intake on the wing the entire time, so I find your comments unnecessary and provocative.

I wrote the first post in a hurry under the impression it needed to be sold immediately, but thankfully it doesn't, at least not that soon.

We're in the south west between Yeovil and Glastonbury, and a ready supply of nice land rovers there certainly isn't.

Stick it on ebay with some nice pics and a good description.
Stick it on a Classified Ad at around £2200 or Best offer or price you think its worth.

Im sure you will have plenty of offers.

Thanks ruffday, and everyone else who has been constructive, I think ebay is the answer, though I'll sort out a thread in the for sale section on here today too.

Given a pressure washer and a bit more time and I'd of taken some better pictures of the chassis. It was waxoiled before we had it, and underneath the dirt black is still the dominate colour. You can see an example in the picture of the front out rigger.

There you go photos make an advert much better, it gives you something to actually see and not visualise.

From the photos the old girl dosent look in bad shape at all. Id certainly make the trip from brum to come look at it. Would want to know the condition of the bulkhead though?

I think the only thing holding you back with a sale is that the Hi-cap is a some what limited market. You have to actually want one or need one, know what i mean.

Hi.
Thanks - she is very nice. And I know what you mean.

We've never waved a can of spray paint or filler anywhere near her, but there is some evidence of corrosion behind the pipe on the snorkel, but it isn't much to see. From memory it is the size of a 20p and has been there for a good while.

She has spent less than a dozen nights outside of a garage in the years we've had her, hence the lack of rust.

I did fit a new fuel tank saying that, but I'd say that was 5 or 6 years ago at a guess...

Cheers

Looks very nice. Where abouts is it? I could give a better value seeing it in the metal, but I'd say 2k is a good price

It is hard to put a figure on as there are so few about on Autotrader etc. We're in Somerset nr Langport.

I REALLY like it, and REALLY REALLY want it. But 2 things are stopping me.

1. The missus would kill me to death.
2. I'd have to sell my Disco 1st.

Good luck.
Death isn't as bad as people make out! :D

provocative?! moi! :D :p :hippie:
:p

I'll put £2k to the old man and see what he says

Cheers
