Please Help.

I have a current thread on concerning a Fuel Leak from under the bonnet.
As an OAP that knows absolutely nothing about the modern engine, I have no idea what to do. I have enclosed a photo with a white cross painted on the offending part which is a type of clip connection. This had come loose and I pushed it back together. My question is, will it work loose again resulting in me losing Diesel that I can ill afford, and if so can it be replaced and can I replace it and if so HOW?
Please help if you can.

It might pay to invest in better clips.just to get it tighter maybe

It looks like the outlet pipe from the fuel filter on the pre face lift model, if it is then its under pressure so a new clip would also be my advice. Try and get hold of the correct clip rather than the jubilee clip that's fitted, larger size jubilee clips are very good but the smaller ones don't always clamp as well as the original one that was fitted.

Hi Nick,
No it"s not a jubilee clip, it"s a Quick release fuel connection which has 2 plastic lugs which lock in when pushed in tight, but to get to it looks like I will have to remove the Engine Electronic Control Module which I"m not sure how to do it, and do I need to do it. I"m worried that this quick release connection is damaged or badly worn and why did it come loose in the first place.

You can get to it if you undo the screw that holds the filter housing and it will lift up so you can get to it easier to inspect it

Hi , the pennys just dropped , I was scratching my head trying to place where in the engine compartment your photo was taken , my fuel filter is in the rear wheel arch ! so the rough edges to the plastic housing must be due to the removal of the fuel filter ! sorry about that , if the clip keeps failing then its time to replace it , can you get a small tie wrap around it so it wont pull apart , that might sort it !

Looks like someone has had a hard time getting the diesel filter out of the housing. And I bet they have held the pipes whilst hitting the plastic filter housing to free the filter as they can be rather tight to slide out hence damaging the rather flimsy clips so just check them for damage....

In my defence the damage was done before I bought the car and I admit I didn"t pick up on the damage to the filter housing.

if part of the housing is damaged where those clips just push in and click in place then it is expensive to replace about £90 odd they are under pressure , the clip its self that fits on the end of the pipe can be replaced
