The video isn't my car, it was done by the blokes at paddock landrover in matlock. The advantage of removing the EGR is that it stops recirculation of exhaust gases through the manifold, therefore cutting out the crud that can build up. Just a note of caution though, if you have an auto box like me and @Nodge68, it can cause a judder in 5th gear at 2000rpm. But I believe yours is manual, so go for it. It'll help your engine breath better.

Mine has been running perfectly since refitting the EGR valve. I guess I'll just have to clean the inlet tract annually.

Going to take a look to take it all apart and see what is going on inside. Do you know if I can expect oil or anything like that everywhere?

Yes mine is a manual. I must video it on start up and show people on here what it is doing. I seen a video on YouTube of a guy doing a service, going to use it as a guide to remove the egr and clean the main inlet on top of the engine. Trying to find a egr bypass kit as on eBay they all vary in price so much and not clear on if they are full kits or what..... plus I am going to chance the MAF sensor and see. Been on the phone to Land Rover UK today for any light they have.
