Its a 97 300tdi but with only 48 grand on it. Bite point isn't particularly high.

You know the plate on top of the clutch pedal box with... 6 screws in it? Remove that plate and you will see the rod going into the master, there is a nut either side of the pedal arm on the rod. Depending on what adjustment you need depends what way you move the nuts, you can start by backing off the nut on the side nearest the master cylinder and check the rod is fully out where it wants to naturally sit - if this nut is wound up too far, the master rod will come out, and then jam on the pedal arm, thus the master piston can never fully return and can lead to the clutch cover being constantly pushed in - i.e. clutch disengaged slightly or at least not clamped hard enough to stop slipping on acceleration or heavy load. It can also lead to fluid issues as if the rod is always held in, the reservoir port will be sealed and the system cannot refill/self bleed a little etc.

I always set them up so there is a little play before the arm starts to actuate the master, I also think the workshop manual suggests this, this then allows for a little wear of the clutch - if I then note this play goes, and the clutch pedal is acting immediately, I would know the plate has worn.

The system should not sit with zero play in it, the whole system need to be able to relax and without this it causes lots of issues, such as the hydraulics can never relax so the seals are always under pressure, the fork is constantly loaded and the release bearing is constantly spinning at engine speed under some load so it will wear out much more prematurely.

mine is a disco dont think you can adjust same as a defender , but will have a look cheers

Oh didn't read that bit, no you can't - well you can shim the slave back out. I have done that before.

What issue do you have?

all seems good now after the clutch change release bearing a little noisey until clutch pedal presed

yes fitted new 3 piece clutch

the bite on mine has gone very high after towing my caravan on big hills and doing lots of hill starts. I will adjust it and hopefully this will cure it

hope its ok after you adjust your pedal mine been a disco i couldnt but much better after new clutch , i optead for an ap clutch about £100 , good luck
