Load space on the bed is already tiny though on the 90 :( Plus looks good on the bonnet (beauties very much in the eye of the beholder.)

Yes, cos its an off-road vehicle! :) If you want load space, get a transit or a Volvo estate! ;):D

Whatever it looks like on the bonnet, it takes a lot of visibility just where you want it when picking your way over tricky terrain. Just my personal opinion, though, its your motor, if you like it you should do it! :)
 
I cant mitch. The lights are positioned in such a way that they would be crushed when opening door, if door mounted. The normal rear cross member is replaced with a heavy duty angled bumper which means that the body work has been adjusted in rear corners, not therefore enabling fitment of a swing away carrier without quite a bit of modification again. That was my preferred option at beginning. Just seems too much agro having had a couple of people look at it first hand to doing this.
 
There is always this option, don't know what the plods/VOSA ( or whatever they are called this week) view on it would be though

Also a pain wjen you are working, swinging the wheel all the time as you open the door to reach in for tools, wire etc. palls after the first few hundred times. ;)

Because the rear cross member has been done away with and a large tube bumper is in its place thats also angled, so cant get a swing away on without quite a bit of hassle really, and mounted water container on back door for the horse.

I have a van for load lugging but a 235/85 in the back of a 90 leaves about a cigarette packets worth of space in the back.

when i go to a trial i will take the wheel off and leave it in the pile with all the toolboxes and other guys spare wheels at the pits.

and since we have no legal green lanes near by - offroading any other time is really out of the question.

So get a wheel mounted bikerack. they just strap to the spare wheel. then you can have both.


for mounting any spare I'd always say go for a swingaway carrier.
 
wheel mounted rack options look **** and time consuming to fit compared to my current rack and my wheel living on the bonnet.

i did find a downside to the bonnet mount yesterday.... the vents are ineffective with the wheel there:(
