I posted recently asking for info on model Land Rovers for the article I am writing for Model Farmer magazine, and am pleased to say that I now have a fair set of pics of the earlier models. Now what I need is prime examples of the real thing for comparison! So if anyone would mind me borrowing a picture of their Series I, II, etc I would be sooooooo grateful (and of course make sure they get a mention in this fabulous new ezine).

Many thanks in anticipation of your help.

Mandy;)

Is there a good market in farming ladies? Are you subject to the new F&M restrictions on moving livestock as the rest of 'em? :D

Very funny... I was kinda hoping you just missed out the 'n' in ladies lol!

Actually, I am the only lady contributor on the Farm Toys Forum and it is my first article for their magazine - so I guess the answer would be no lol (and the guys are very possessive - therefore I would expect significant restrictions on any moves that I make lol :D )

Perhaps you can answer me a question - why hasn't anyone offered me any pictures of their wonderful vehicles yet:confused: I'm feeling very unloved by the Landy Zone so far:(

To be fair it's not entirely clear from your post what it is you want. You said you have pics of earlier models & want pics of Series motors. You also say you want pictures of prime examples. Many on here have 'models' held together with string (mine is!), often fairly extensively modified or at least far from as they left the factory.

What is it you're after or what is it you're trying to show?

Criticism accepted, Marcus - and apologies if I was not clear. The object of the article is to compare the very best scale models with their real-life equivalents - so I guess for this the real-life landies would need to be unmodified, and good examples. The article is to be in two parts and the first part will concentrate on the earlier models (I would guess a good cut-off point would be the introduction of the 1984 Defender 90 - but if you disagree please do not hesitate to suggest otherwise, as I am really not pretending to be an expert in this area!). So for starters, a good Series one (similar to the model in my profile pic would be great) - it doesn't really need to be in 'prime' condition, but clearly show the features of this early models i.e straight panels, grill over the headlamps, bucket seats and anything else you think is important to this model.

Again, I stress... I am not an expert (although I've owned 3 Landies and currently own a Disco) so any suggestions or comments by you guys will be very greatfully received.

Thanks again for your replies and I sooooooo look forward to hearing from anyone who can help!

Ahh, see now that makes more sense. Why not try a post in the Series section & maybe the Deepender section headed something like 'Have you a good, straight unmodified Land Rover?' & ask yer question in the post.

If everyone in here has molested their motors beyond recognition (which all bar the newer models they probably have!) you could try the model specific clubs. Can't remember the names but there's certainly a Series II/IIa club & a Series I club populated with prime examples & a quick t'internet search should find them. I'm sure there's a Stage 1 club too for fans of the early V8s.

You're wonderful!! Will try all suggested. Thanks Marcus!

Wonderful? Wonderful? Blurry 'ell, I'm a lot happier with grouchy, belligerent, possibly psychotic, certainly psychotropic, pugnacious, beer swilling caveman.

Wonderful? Never 'eard such a thing!

Well Marcus... gladly call you all those things if it makes you happy, but as we've only just met, thought it was safer to stick with wonderful:D

erm - careful lady! - I think his description was more accurate! (unless he has a tow strap in his hand) - in which case Wonderful is pertinent. :D

Wot so I int today? Reet, it's back to grouchy, belligerent, possibly psychotic, certainly psychotropic, pugnacious, beer swilling caveman.

Ahh, now I know where I'm at. :D
