Hi everyone,
Any idea what the electrical connector is on the top of the g/box next to the right of the starter motor hole? There doesn't appear to be any connector to it on the wiring loom....

I think that's a speed sensor location.

Most vehicles don't use it though as they take the speed from the wheel sensors through the ABS/TC system post ~02 or so.

The early Freelander without ABS/ HDC used the boxes speedometer take off. Later and ABS earlier models use pulses from the wheel sensors for speed calculations. Your box is likely an early one become the speedometer take off is blanked off on ABS box.
