P38A Petrol leak - Help!

I am not sure whether I want to start pulling things apart just yet. The leak's stopped and no observable issues at the moment apart from the lack of a "hiss" on opening the fuel cap.
She is still "full" on the go-juice gauge and I think I may see if I can run around in her until it shows <1/4 before I go diving in there.
 
How did you get on our Dan?
I am ashamed to say I have failed to resolve this.:(
I have no visible leak but there is no pressurisation/vacuum "Hiss" on opening the fuel cap, so there's obviously a "vent to air" somewhere. I don't know which it is, If the injector pump has a return it would be pressurised I suppose, or would it be a vacuum as fuel is pulled from the tank?
Whether it is indeed still leaking I cannot say as it is doing it W/O any tell-tale wet-patched on the chassis/roadway.
I really ought to get out under it again with the OSR wheel and liner off and on stands to have a proper look and dismantle of the thing.
Sheer laziness and "other-things" in the way of doing it. My bad.:(

Lazy bugger,you'll be pushing up the daisies when that car gets anywhere near 100kmiles never mind 200k.:D:D I'd get a new connecting pipe ,number 4 in the diagram posted and two new clips and go for it.;)
 
I know it's a complete different model but I had/have the same problem with my series 3. The day I bought it, I took it to a petrol station to fill up. I was alarmed to see petrol running from under the car. It turned out to be the filler neck rubber connecting hose. It only leaked whilst I was filling it up. Once home I had a go at tightening the two jubilee clips and it seems to solve it but after a few fill ups it stated leaking again. I've replaced the hose and clips and all was well for about 18 months but it has started to leak again when I fill it up.

>>50% of it is invisible to check. Definitely check the rubber hose & clips. It could also be a split in the plastic filler pipe.

If it is the pump seal or return pipe, you will need to drop the tank. Maybe drop the tank part way, and then run the pump using a bypass link in Relay 12. This way you can get underneath with the engine off, and check everywhere. Loosen the nuts & bolts on the strap, and there might be enough room to get a hand on top of the tank to check for fuel around the feed & return pipes. If they are rusty there might be pinholes causing your puddle.
 
Same sort of thing Col. I’ve changed neck and connecting pipe on my diesel and the petrol perishes worse. Could be the lift pump o-ring or connector on top of the pump those olives rot out. Always worth checking under arch first if you haven’t chopped an inspection hatch, which I know you wouldn’t do to your beaut.
 
I was just going to replace the clamps with some nice stainless ones i happen to have in stock from my rallying days service( get you out of the ****) kit:D
