Slightly disappointing that Land Rover did not have a stand with the new Defender on it. Disappointing, but I guess not surprising, this is not a side of Land Rover that they have any interest in anymore.
 
Was there yesterday, had a great day. even doing a lap of the car parking checking out the other defenders was worth it for inspiration.

LR normally attend the lro show but only every 3 or 4 years. Its a bit too soon for them to show oft the new tratter. Their demo teams will be busy with events world wide showing oft the new freela, shorry tratter as part of the marketing campaign.

I think if I had just launched a new Land Rover Defender I would have ensured that my demo teams found time to go to what is billed as "the biggest Land Rover event of the year." I'm sure there would have been plenty of people deriding it, but I bet they would have got some sales as well.

They will be out and about but they will have a priority list for controlled mass media coverage. Lro may be the biggest show but if peeps want one they will search and find one. Won't be long before they're borrowing them to dealers. Main steam car reporters will be the current targets.

Goodwood is different. Lots of money there. Lots of tv/media there. Its a bit of a show case for the motoring world and designers.

i think JLR were scared they would get criticised at LRO but knew everyone would w&nk over it at goodwood while quaffing oysters and champagne.

Gerry McGovern gets a nose bleed every time he has to think of thousands of Land Rovers all personalised, unique, modified.
Doesn't sit well with his OCD.
 
I thought I would try to revive this chat for this years show... 2021

I've stumped up for some camping tickets for a first visit to this show... might try and get in on Friday - any tips on the best/quietest place to camp? Might take the dog, if there's a nice area for her ablutions?... talking of which, any experience of the facilities for the rest of us?

Often with these things you get in early, set up all nice, then a loud mob set up right next to you!?
 
Haha, I just had a weekend in a tent and I made the mistake of picking what I thought would be a quiet area, to not realise until I was all setup that the reason no one else was in this part of the site is that there's a road right next to it, a few early morning tractors woke the little one up :D

Re LRO International show (2021), going there for first time myself, so I can't offer advice, but I am glad you kicked this thread into life, I will be interested in the info shared by others.
 
I would look into going to something like that. Never done that event before. Looks alright :)

Not been for a few years and intended to go this year but a pregnant Mrs K has said I can’t go...

Around six or seven years ago, I stayed overnight at the Malvern Landy show. It was a great social but not far away on the campsite, a couple of idiots with one of the clubs got drunk and decided to take their trials trucks for a drive around... and quite a few groups are noisy just because it’s not often people get together for an overnighter, somthe beers and BBQ’s go on late into the night!

I think LRO are likely to have a quiet area. I’m sure if you look online or on the tickets, there will be details of where this is or there would be a phone number to enquire. If I stayed again, I’d look to find somewhere quieter too!
 
Looks like they have a family/quiet camping area, so might try to get in there... will take some ear plugs too... some folk don't seem to realise how sound travels through canvas - had very 'amourous' neighbours on one camping trip:rolleyes:

Just received our Jay Be guest beds... nice and comfy, no more cold hard ground, and deflating air beds... just hope they fit in the tent now...:D

Looking out for some decent camp chairs at the show... any recommendations - not sure if LRO will be doing a giveaway with a subscription?

... might look for some parts deals, the old swivels are leaking, so might be time for an axle overhaul... nice heavy bits, so may save on postage...
 
We are going this year first time with a LR, went a few years ago without one learnt a lot and loved the atmosphere. One reason I ended up with the Defender. Got my shopping list ready...
 
Well, we made it there and back... it was a good show, enjoyed the evening entertainment... well impressed with the challenge trucks.
Glad we camped, so could enjoy a few beers - glad we had our own, and £6.50 for a pint it was a bit steep!... you had to pick your moment, as the showers seemed to run dry at unpredictable times...
The retail side seemed a bit limited... the auto jumbles seemed to offer a better range...
Discovered Demand Engineering exhausts.. so giving their centre box replacement a go.... bit more civilised than the straight through pipe.
 
I walked pass the Demand stand very quickly, very nice bits on show. Yep the beer isnt cheap bag with few cans for the day works a treat.
Picked up a land rover bottle jack and 2 front seats.. had a lot more on my list but couldnt get in the mood think it was down to the nice weather!
