I was planning a 3 day trip to the UK to get new glasses as there is a 2 year wait for an eye examination and the glasses have been too expensive here, but a new shop opened in town, they took my last eye examination and updated it FOC and so I have ordered 2 pairs of glasses for a total of €139, bargain, but no UK trip now. Wife's glasses at a traditional glasses shop cost €800 some of which was covered by health insurance leaving her with a bill for over €350 Rip off.Make up reasons, there is always pigeons to chase off the road or hedgehog dodging
Understood, Sharon and the three lads have all had glasses this year....I was planning a 3 day trip to the UK to get new glasses as there is a 2 year wait for an eye examination and the glasses have been too expensive here, but a new shop opened in town, they took my last eye examination and updated it FOC and so I have ordered 2 pairs of glasses for a total of €139, bargain, but no UK trip now. Try Lynx Optic, they have cut the legs off the opposition on prices, I'll let you know if they quality is OK when they arrive in a couple of weeks.Understood, Sharon and the three lads have all had glasses this year....
You will need to keep your nose to the grindstone with all those glasses to pay forUnderstood, Sharon and the three lads have all had glasses this year....

You are welcome. I used to have a computer in the premises of a glasses frames wholesaler, for example if he bought the frames in a £0.50 per pair, he sold them to the trade at £10, the trade sold them to the end user for £50 plus lenses, it's a racket. The big brand names are an even bigger rip off.Cheers Keith, thank you very much sir

The problem in France is that much of the cost is covered by insurance which has led to the prices being ramped up. wife's lenses are a bit special so more expensive.Holy ****. The missus wears glasses and I know they are expensive but no where near that.
I have used Specsavers for the last 20 years or so, but as I normally do not make the annual trek back to the UK anymore, I have had the same pair of glasses since 2011 and the lenses are no longer clear.Should have gone to Specsavers!
Can you not just use the prescription on Amazon or t'internet?
You can, or Glasses direct, but when you put in the info, they are no longer as cheap as the adverts imply and then you do not know for sure if the will fit well or if the progression in the lenses is as it needs to be.Should have gone to Specsavers!

Bloody pay attention next time laddy!!****UPDATE****
I feel bit foolish because the replacement carrier/interposer (x2) for the mirror glass arrived and I went to fit one this afternoon.
Upon close visual inspection and comparison of a brand-new one and the one what was still affixed to the mirror-motor assembly but had come adrift from the mountings on the glass, I could see no difference. No broken bits or cracked parts anywhere. So I found a fitting video on You-Tube and removed the interposer/part from the motor, refitted it to the mirror and then put it back on the motor mounts. Job done.
I have no idea how the thing came to be adrift as there is no damage to the wing mirror shell (has not been bashed at all). But pleased its all back in an working. I now have 2 spare mirror interposer mounts.
Thanks for the help folks.

Original is convexI made the mistake of getting flat glass replacement not concave like original. Works although no auto dip is awkward with a lift
