hiya guys,

sorry to be such a pain about this, ive spoken to many main dealers about finding out the part number for this master-on-off cruise control switch

they cannot find any trace of this part and to be honest is driving me nuts a bit.

one main dealer said if i ask another FL very nicely to pull out there switch it should have a label and part number on it

i was wondering if anyone that has one of these switches fitted if they wouldnt mind having a quick look for me please and writing down the number

the switch should look like this, but this is a blank one.

a massive thanks once again and sorry for driving people nuts over this

all the best

Hi Gary,
Pectron is one firm I found when researching mine - their OEM CC units were in the £70 - £100 range on ebay. Think that's where I got the info about the later models being a straight replacement.
I recall reading that the Rover 75 TD4 CC units were also useable but you may need to check that out on the Rover Forums?? May be safer to stick with a CC unit listed for FL's tho' - but if the part numbers are the same may be woth a punt if the price is right.
The CC ECU and 'interface' (interface only used on petrols?) are different for the V6/K series and the TD4. The petrols have an electrical vac pump and servo mechanical system to manually adjust the throttle hence the 'interface' and the TD4 is all electronic with an early and later ECU.
Recall that the 'interface' uses the CC ECU output to drive the petrol's ancilliaries to do the mechanical stuff. (you won't have the plug for the interface on your TD4 - different loom).
More of the memory of researching this is coming back as you post up your findings, shame I binned all of my research when I completed mine! Hey-ho.

hiya thanks for the info, i have contacted pectron and they said they sold there rights to someone else, but said they are on holiday this week and there engineers come back next week

they said that the box fits several other cars so once i get a tech sheet on it i may be in business of finding one cheaper than the £300 one of the local land rover dealers are trying to charge for one

thanks again and if thats ok will keep you up to date with this

all the best

hiya

after been doing some more investigation about this cruise control

alot of people who have got rover 75's have exactly the same ecu box fitted and there all reporting that once they fit everything it seems to be plug and play without having to get it activated ,

dont know if its true with a freelander

plus also finding alot of ecu boxes in the usa for around £40, but then want £175.00 for postage

so there goes a bargin

after the ecu part number scb100211L

Gary,

Also keep your eyes open for the ECU without the 'L' suffix.

When Land Rover used an existing Rover Cars part, they usually added the 'L' suffix to it.

I can't swear that the two are identical but, on previous experience, they usually are.

A used SCB100211 recently finished on eBay for £25.00 -

ROVER 75 MG ZT DIESEL CRUISE INTERFACE UNIT SCB100211 | eBay

$%28KGrHqR,%21i4E4rQTqjjuBOLdIo,5k%21%7E%7E_12.JPG

As you can see from the picture, it has the both the Rover and Land Rover logos on it.

Another example of this, is the Defender 'One Touch' Rear Fog Lamp ECU (also made by Pectron :) ) -

Land Rover part number - YWC104430L

Rover Cars part number - YWC104430 (fitted to Rover 600 and Rover MINI)

The difference in price can be unbelievable

(prices from Rimmer Bros.)

YWC104430L - £17.06 ex VAT (£20.47 inc VAT)

YWC104430 - £239.72 ex VAT (£287.66 inc VAT)

Similarly, a new Cruise Control ECU from Rimmer Bros.

SCB100211L - Supersedes to SCB100212, which costs - £225.90 ex VAT (£271.08 inc VAT)

SCB100211 - £108.48 ex VAT (£130.18 inc VAT)

As you say that Pektron are no longer making it, I wouldn't mind betting that SCB100212 is now made by someone else, hence the change of part number.

X-Part, who you mentioned in earlier post, are the company now handling the stocking and distribution of genuine Rover parts since Rover went tits-up.

Small world! - I'm not far from you, I'm in Horton Kirby. I was also in 71 Sigs LAD REME, from 1985 to 1998, you must have been there after I left.

thanks so much paul , really appreciate it

really sick about missing that ecu box and great advice about ommitting the L on some searches because ive been including it.

i think as many main dealers including rover want nearly £300 i will keep looking out on ebay

may i ask a daft question how did you find that box on ebay was it just a question of typing in the part number from the home screen

i was in the reme ta in 1982, it was based in bromley before it went over to i belive bexleyheath, i was only in for a year as i started my apprenticeship in plumbing and heating and didnt have time for both.

there was a guy there i remember called Kirch a really nice guy and built like a tank really enjoyed playing pranks, as when we went to bordon i got covered in green food colouring in the evening ans could have a shower until the morning, nothing like being embarrased walking into the shower block

defently a small world as your about 15 mins down the road, if your ever at a loose end and board and fancy a beer give me a shout

thanks once again for the heads up about searching ebay, hopefully another one will come up as i would rather get a second hand one just in case fitting the cruise control doesnt work , but by the looks of it with rover cars it seems to be plug and play

I found that finished ECU listing in a Google search for SCB100211 - it also came back with loads of MG-Rover forum threads on retro-fitting cruise control.

Tuning eBay's search to find what you're looking for is a bit of a black art, as they've set it to show you all the ****e from their preferred sellers, before what you're actually looking for - WTF is 'Best Match' all about

I'll PM you about the TA.
