hiya guys,

sorry to be such a pain about this, ive spoken to many main dealers about finding out the part number for this master-on-off cruise control switch

they cannot find any trace of this part and to be honest is driving me nuts a bit.

one main dealer said if i ask another FL very nicely to pull out there switch it should have a label and part number on it

i was wondering if anyone that has one of these switches fitted if they wouldnt mind having a quick look for me please and writing down the number

the switch should look like this, but this is a blank one.

a massive thanks once again and sorry for driving people nuts over this

all the best

the blanking switch currently fitted has the number YXJ100160 LNF, this is the one i wish to remove and put one of the same angled shape back in its place, but being a cruise control on - off switch

im assuming however that number 22 is of a smaller square type switch and not shaped like the blanking switch i already have in the instrument panel.

however if i cant get hold of the part number i think i will have to order number 22 and put that in for now until i can get my hands on one via a breakers etc.

strange also that none of the switches seem to be in black but showing as ash grey but as it has the code of LNF on the end matbe it will be the same colour.

i cannot belive the grief im having with this, still never mind.and i really do appreciate everybodies help

plus on the dashboard lights im wondering if the cruise control bulb is in situ, if not can i get spare bulbs etc from halfords etc

does the bulbs just pull out

thanks so much again for your great help

all the best

as i said in your other thread LNF is the colour code for ash grey so as the part number for your blanking plug finishes with LNF it means that your trim is Ash Grey.....as for the bulb it will prob be in situ but won't illuminate til the circuit is complete....

Hiya

Sorry mate I shouldn't have assumed that I thought as the my dash board was black it couldn't have been ash grey but I know u must be 100 % correct as u say the code of LNF on the plug proves this

See I should have listened to you in the beginning mate

Plus I'm learning very fast that even though images on microcat etc may not always be the same as what the part number could be

I think I could order the cruise control switch and if its wrong at least I can use it until I can get the correct one plus as someone said as the switch comes apart I may be able to replace part of it so it has the curved section to it

It would have been so much easier and a lot less hassle if land rover just showed the correct image in the beggining

Well at least I'm making progress got the steering wheel coming going to order the switch on monday and then see if I can get a cruise control ecu second hand or ebay

Huge thanks once again

hiya

yes im trying to fit the original cc into my freelander 1

i have read the post thanks but that seems to be for the FL 2.

on researching the best i can and from other people's information it seems i may be lucky as mine is the TD4 and an auto.

all the wiring is there in my loom, from the wiring behind the on-off switch blank, to the plug underneath my seat for the cruise control ecu.

i have found all the colours match in my FL to ones being showed on the wiring diagram for CC

i borrowed the recirculating air switch from the middle on the dashboard and plugged it into where the cc cruise switch should be, on turning on the ignition i then have got a 12 volts supply to the plug thats underneath my seat.

so far so good, im not holding my breath to be honest but have been taking it slow and checking everything stage my stage and havent rushed out and bought a cc ecu as of yet.

have been trying to find out when i turn on the master switch to see if i should have any other feeds on the underseat plug or just the 12 volt one ive got at the moment.

ref the instrument bulb, i wasnt sure if it would light up but now i know will have to wait until i plug in an ecu.

in an ideal world would be nice to see if i could get a cc ecu on loan or just to plug one in to see if it works and if not return it, but i dont think thats going to happen.

i cannot thank everyone enough for such sound and great advice as i know i certainly wouldnt have got any where near this stage without it.

ive just got to eat some humble pie about the colour of the switch but it will just teach me to open my ears and listen in future loll

thanks again

thats it, the elusive switch, i even sent that over to a land rover dealer and they still said they cannot find any part number for it

:frusty::frusty::frusty:

they advised me to try and get a vin number from a FL that has got on of these fitted and they said they may then be able to find it.

but on microcat i just put in 2002 and still doesnt come up with anything but i suppose if i managed to get a vin number he could then get in touch with land rover uk parts department.

it would also be nice to find it so that if by any remote chance this works could save somebody else having the grief of finding one.

there does seem to be alot of people who have tried it but it seems they've had either FL2's or manuals, you never know i may be lucky

really appreciate your time

hiya

re read the post and it seems that what was missing is a plug under the seat for the cc ecu.

this is what ive got fitted under my seat.

at first i thought i found a plug but after being advised relalised that the plug was for heaters for the seat.

been looking the best i can and this plug which i found by routing under the carpet seems to be for the ecu as i got a 12 volt feed when i tried the on-off switch on the instrument panel

i know that if i hadnt have got this plug fitted under my seat i would have given up there and then but as it is there seems a shame not to investigate it further and at the end of the day if it doesnt work at least hopefully will then know, but if it does would if anyones interested could put it on here as a sticky to help others

any info in order that i can investigate this further is most appreciated

Is cruise control worth all the effort? Many have played with fitting it even with main dealer help, and have not got it working. Seems to differ on different cars. Also needs enabled in the computer. This car must have cost more than a 5 door td4 auto with all you've spent on it. Mines got cruise but I never use it.

hiya

well to be honest since my accident things are getting more difficult as time goes by, the auto box makes a difference and when i do motorway driving it would be nice to be able to take my foot off the pedal

the car actually stands me in with the cost of the car and parts at 3k

i know i could have most proberly bought one with everything on by now but now i can no longer work know that i will never have enough money to buy another one so as the freelander is on sound condition i feel i want to the best i can making it a long term car.

at the end of the day i imagine its not worth much but unfortuantly its all ive got to work with and will never get my money back

i would like to give it a go with the cruise control, but am trying to work if i can with a local dealer to see if i can just plug in a cruise ecu to test it as i agree with you dont want to be left with expensive parts if it doesnt work.

thanks again for all your help

i can indeed see where yout coming from and i know your only saying it incase it doesnt work and im left standing with the parts

take care

looking at microcat it lists 3 part numbers for the cruise ecu and theres also an interface by the look of it.... :( ... and a cruise control pump as well maybe....???

hiya

this is the one ive been quoted for so far from a main dealer

ECU module – SCB100211L – £299.74 plus vat

to which i know i wont be paying this.

i think the other ones are for a v6 or a manual, as the dealer said some have been superseaded

this was then from another main dealer

Prices below;

Cruise control ECU @ £194.94 + VAT = £233.93 inc. VAT
Enable/disable switch (on dash) @ £5.90 + VAT = £7.08 inc. VAT

i was always under the impression that main dealers use the same price structure, but that doesnt seem to be the case.

has anyone got a link for fleabay please as it comes up with about 10 different links and to be honest not sure which is the right one

unless this is it

freelander ecu - SupaPrice.co.uk

I understand. Have done a simular thing, spent what I won't get back. Each little fix and that will be it finished.

Here's my cruise modules on a 2001 v6, under the drivers seat, so you'll know what the v6 was fitted out with. Think td4 was different. Will have a look in me hawkeye at what it says abount enabling the cruise.

bless you for that hippo i appreciate that

i actually got an email back from a main dealer who i must admit has been really helpful

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gary,

I’ve done a bit of further investigation with circuit diagrams and the like, and am rapidly drawing the conclusion that maybe the parts catalogue is incorrect. I say this because everything in the workshop manual shows the picture that you have sent. I would therefore suggest that the way forward may be to order the part numbers listed and see what comes. I think it very likely that the switch we will get is the one you want.

The wire colour codes translate as follows:

WK – white/pink
RO - red/orange
WY – white/yellow
B – black

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

been also looking at a company called pectron whi i think may make the units for around £90 a big difference from nearly £300 that land rover want.

it seems that the rover 75 had a similar unit , i think i read it on a link here somewhere and have been investigating that as well

really appreciate your help with this and ref regarding the hawkeye to see what it says.
i wonder if its on the T4 that can activate it as the local dealer charges £109 plus vat per hour.

so far everything looks ok, but im going to hang off getting an ecu until ive fitted the main master switch and steering wheel, then to see if i can get a test sequence sheet to see where i should have lives and switched lives on the underseat plug when i do things on the steering wheel controls and master switch

im still suprised that there seems to be alot of interest with this subject, but know i must take it slowly to test everything before i go onto the next stage, i learnt that when i was a fomer gas boiler engineer when i use to do fault tracing be it electrical or component

thanks again and like i said really appreciate your help

hiya

ref the cruise control ecu can someone have a look at some part number for me please

ive got scb100211L should be from vin 1A000001 to vin 5A999999

my vin is SALLNBAE12A215880

and the other ecu scb100212 is from vin 6A000001

so i assume the scb100211L is for my car but noticed that rover cars have these units trying to see if i can try and match a rover one up with mine to cross reference the numbers.

thanks guys

Hi Gary,
Pectron is one firm I found when researching mine - their OEM CC units were in the £70 - £100 range on ebay. Think that's where I got the info about the later models being a straight replacement.
I recall reading that the Rover 75 TD4 CC units were also useable but you may need to check that out on the Rover Forums?? May be safer to stick with a CC unit listed for FL's tho' - but if the part numbers are the same may be woth a punt if the price is right.
The CC ECU and 'interface' (interface only used on petrols?) are different for the V6/K series and the TD4. The petrols have an electrical vac pump and servo mechanical system to manually adjust the throttle hence the 'interface' and the TD4 is all electronic with an early and later ECU.
Recall that the 'interface' uses the CC ECU output to drive the petrol's ancilliaries to do the mechanical stuff. (you won't have the plug for the interface on your TD4 - different loom).
More of the memory of researching this is coming back as you post up your findings, shame I binned all of my research when I completed mine! Hey-ho.
