What's the difference between

Quality: Original Equipment in Plain Box (Bearmach description)

and

Quality: Branded Original Equipment (Britpart description)

or, are they the same thing?

ie two ways of saying not an original Land Rover part, but manufactured to the original specifications.

I am not trying to trigger the Britpart debate again:eek:

not a lot ,both should be the same ie timken if taper bearing, valeo if a clutch

These were rear brake calipers, James.

I presume it's two different ways of saying aftermarket part made to original specifications.

So, for these brake calipers

Brand: AP | Source: BRITPART Quality:Branded Original Equipment
Price: £62.63

Brand: OEM | Source: BEARMACH Quality:Original Equipment in Plain Box
Price: £74.91

Brand: LAND ROVER | Source: LAND ROVER Quality: Original Part from Land Rover UK
Price: £250.48

Above are copy/paste from lrdirect website

Are Land Rover trying to sell the same part, made by the same approved manufacturer, as Britpart and Beamach, but for 4 times the price?

its tricky with lr parts ,lucas were the brand that made lr electrical components they no longer exist the names owned by trw ,so they are now oem parts

I Ok, so OEM does not mean original equipment manufacture ie made to original spec. It means original equipment manufacturer ie made by the company who make the ones used on the new vehicles.

It's the constant struggle to get the balance right between cost and value for money.
I'll take your advice, James, and go OEM supplied by Britpart. :) cheers

it means the same manufacturer that made the parts originally ie timken or valeo etc , they are still current ,lucas lockheed etc arent as such but the parts will be better than pattern/unbranded
