Parking Aid

Freelander SD4 HSE 2013

I have an issue with the park aid feature whereby the camera will intermittently come on for around 10secs then go off and show fault . I get the 6 flashes on switch so no sensors (Front or Rear) will work. As it's the wife's car she would like it working . Landrover cardiff want £180 per hr to diagnose which seems very high (unless that's what's expected from a dealership) and that don't include fixing. If its runs into a few hrs I'll need a loan (lol) any ideas from anyone on here would be a big help.

It could well be the camera module itself. Those get hot in use, so it sounds like it could be a thermal fault with it.

A replacement camera module will cost less than 1hrs diagnostic at LR.

When you say camera module, do you mean the actual camera? If not where will I find the module as there is no mention in the manual. It basically says park aid fault contact dealer.

Yes, the camera itself. All camera sensors get hot in use, and a camera failing shortly after being turned on is a good place to start.

That's so they can run a diagnostic on it and part you with large amounts of money.

You can buy yourself an easy to use diagnostic device, so you can read your own codes. The initial outlay seems high, but at over £100 for a code read session from LR, it'll very soon start saving you money.
