Hello,

I have just bought an old Defender for a bit of fun, off roading, shooting etc and am going to paint it this easter break.

Can anyone offer any tips for this?

I also want to know whether it is a 200 TDi, or a 300 TDi? Im not sure what the difference is.

Here she is:

Judging by the air vent on the left wing it's a 200tdi but being a G reg it is probably a Turbo Diesel TD.
As for painting get in touch with 'The paintman' from Wolverhampton i think, he is on the net and he goes to alot of the landy shows and you can buy decent landy colours.
If your not after showroom condition you can paint it with a small roller, before you laugh it's hard to tell afterwards as you can get a smooth finish. I brush painted my last landy in grey and you could hardly tell it was applied with a brush, that is if you get good enough paint.

Good job yer dint buy i freelander or yerd of had daft hat man jumpin up an down agen:rolleyes:

Sorry! Welcome to LZ! But it int, it is a 90 which you can see (if you miss it on the number plate) on the name on the front grille. Defenders dint come out till late H (1990/91)

If you have the original engine it will almost certainly be a turbodiesel which came in before the 200, but it could be a 12J which is a TD without the T.

how come i seen a green landy with defender writed on it in 1984?

Thanks for all of your advice! Its the 2.5 TD but am i right in now thinking that isnt a Defender and just a Land Rover 90? I think she is going to become nato green this easter after doing some reading. Seems like reds not popular on this forum! I have got access to a big compressor and a top of the range spray gun so was going to spray it. Ive got some clever friends too who have done this before so should get a pretty good finish. Snorkel and light bar next after the colour change... and good places to go?
