Hi All. Ive spent the summer getting my old 90 running sweet and decided to give her a lick of paint to tidy her up. Shes been painted black with a yard brush at some time! Ive spent 2 weeks with wet n dry - the existing paint is v soft and a bugger to smooth out - it sort of ballls up. Any way, disaster tonite - i wiped some of my finished work with a rag soaked in thinners and the black paint erupts!!! have i got to strip all the old paint off or is there some sort of "neutral" primer i can put on before spraying my 2 pack? help please!! thanks, steve

You could use Isolator Sealer, but as the previous coating is so soft removal would be the best option.

Ye didn't buy yer motor from DK1.7 by any chance, did ye? ;) :D

Ive got to do something with it now cos half of it has been wetn dryed so showing 3 diff colors and other half looks like michael jacksons face where thinners has lifted paint!

Only three colours, then it hasn't been too badly abused:D .Invest in some Nitromors and strip back to bare metal, use a plastic scraper to avoid scratching or gouging of the panels. Steel wool will also work well...........and remember to use etch primer before applying any other coatings.

Hi All - advice taken - thanks - shes stripped back to primer nearly now - metal in a few places! Have got to decide now whether to keep her black or go for something more exciting!
