paint or not to paint

my 75 ser3 is in pretty good condition cosmetically and finished in original light green. In places its a bit faded and i'm debting whether or not to repaint it some other colour. Mrs Fatrover is violently opposed to this plan saying that it will look 'mucked about with'.. Am not sure myself and would welcome a lively debate on the pros and cons of painting an old rover.....:confused: :confused:
 
If you intend keeping it for some time then paint if it is bothering you, but I would not change the colour as it detracts from its value and originality. If you intend selling soon DO not paint as it is better to have the patina of age with it (worth more, speaking with 34 years Motor Trade experience)
 
Its in good nick mechanically and i dont intend to sell it, i'd just like to tidy it up a bit. previous owner has (badly) applied touch up spray paint to some areas and it just looks messy..
 
In that case paint it but do it in the original colour as there is nothing worse than opening the doors or bonnet to find a different colour, a very long and time consuming job to do a proper colour change.
 
as been said, never change the color unless its a complete body off restoration. and even then I wouldnt do it.

also a bad respray is worse than leaving well alone. you can end up with a car worth jack ****.
 
by hand can be ok. assuming you buy a real good quality brush and get the correct paint.
same color of course!

Use a 6" paint roller and a 1" paint brush to do around the tricky bits !!!;)

The roller leaves a really top finish, We painted my mates 4 years ago and it still looks 1st class !!!:D

Just remember, preperation, preperation, preperation !!!:D
 
Yeah, a roller is good. I've dun it (not on this Landy yet, actually on boats mainly) & rubbed it down after with fine wet&dry then brought the shine back with Tcut (brasso works well too). Cos' you've so many large flat areas it's not too much of a fag neither.
