Age old question here - but I have certainly trying my hardest before posting this!
No indication of colour on VIN plate or documents.
can someone advise what they would say this colour is? I'm going with Epsom Green but could be wrong. '94 M reg - v8i ES.

Also - potentially looking to sell shortly once I've tidied up a few bits (hence touch up paint) - got too many cars to want to give a 110 a go! any recommendations on a fair price?

- 3.9 v8i ES (1994) auto
- 89,000 miles
- rust free - surface blemishing from ally oxidising at worst.
- all traditional rot areas are solid, with only a small amount of surface rust which comes right off.
- Completely stock
- solid paintwork, few stone chips etc but nothing major
- full service history
- Dual AC is ice cold
- LPG Conversion
- all log books, original tyre jack, even original spare
- any bad bits - rubber seals need doing (will probably do them before I sell anyway, cross member of bull bar needs rewelding but the rest solid. missing some buttons on the cassette. that's about it :)
- interior is incredibly tidy. few cracks on front seats but no staining anywhere and all clean.
- really turns heads. Took it to a LR meet recently and was a serious crowd pleaser.
- oh yeah - its sounds absolutely mental :)

Its pretty much a working classic. 100% reliable having done 4 hours plus journeys in it without its skipping a beat.

I can't see it being worth less than 6k, and to be honest would like to push the boat out for close to 7 because D1's are either mint nowadays (collectable) and therefore not a daily driver, or quarry bashed/abandoned and not worth much. An in the middle option with such a complete history + it seems fair?...be interested in what everyone thinks! I bought it as an off roader base but its way too good to mod and thrash.

In't it on the plate under the bonnet, above the grill? Or did they only do that for D2s. Am in the wrong place to be able to check.

It sure looks nice.
Is the lpg system registered and how is it set up? 4 tanks under and a smaller petrol tank? (hopefully).
But with the faults listed it cannot be described as "mint", buttons off the casette etc. So you are right to not try and price it as mint.
Mine does not have the lpg registered although botht the seller and I thought it must be as it was so professionally fitted. This affects your insurance and is why I haven't used it since buying it a few years ago.

Thanks @Stanleysteamer
yep that is correct ref the plate, but the Paint cell which should have the code is empty - seems like a few 94 models went out that way!

LPG was professionally fitted, and I've got the receipts for it (fitted when it was a brand new car apparently) - 2 tanks underneath and standard size petrol. I don't use LPG personally as its a weekend runaround and prefer the extra horses on 99 ron!

totally agree ref the condition. mechanically completely sound and electrics are fine. My gut feel is £6500/6800 on the basis that if someone looks after it well over the next 2/3 years, this will go up in value (as long as they keep it standard!)

Funny about the paint code!
Mine is manual and has the usual stuck diff lock mechanism which would require me drilling out all the rivets to get to it etc. done it before, not a big hassle justa bit of one. The gear change plate, or whatever it is called must be shot as it is a bit of a job finding first. I bought it primarily for the LPG and the performance of course. It had belonged to a welder and he had done all the necessary work. It is not a pretty one and would need a lot of work to get it together, but then I paid £1250 for it with a year's MOT! (Obviously a few years ago now!) Mine's a 99 I think, T reg.

I think you’re about right in price if it’s how you state but it’s a bit of a niche market, especially being a v8.
Are you sure you want rid?!!

Yeah ok interesting!
Not sure at all😂I probably won't appreciate what I've got until I don't have it... but objectively, I'm not using it as a daily and in the middle of running a business I just worry it won't get the upkeep to keep it like it is - but I'm going to run it until I garage it over winter and make a decision then tbh.

But whatever, as a 27 year old in todays world I'm just glad that whatever happens, I owned a v8 in this life!

Do you think its worth keeping for a while longer? Even as v8 and with cost of fuel etc?

They’re coming up in value that’s for sure. I have a theory that they will continue to rise - look at the 90s jap stuff - it’s silly money now! The scooby I had 7 years ago is worth about 40% more now than it was when I bought it.
7 years ago you could probably find a low mileage decent d1 for 2k.
A blue auto 300 with similar mileage to yours came up locally to me me - I noticed it driving home and went and had a look. Think that was 4.5k. I was contemplating buying it, rang 2 days later and a chap had come down from Scotland and bagged it!
They’re worth what people are willing to pay like anything else really.
I don’t believe that ANY are rust free though like these ‘time warp’ or ‘barn find’ adds claim. If they’ve been on British roads or even been washed, they will have rust!
I’ll be honest also - the lpg would put me as a buyer off. Again that’s just me.
If it were my car, I’d keep as they’re much better than a defender anyway 😉😂

haha yes agree about the rust bit😂 although just now I'm set to with a wire brush and putting that straight! thankfully very very mild atm.

interesting about the LPG! it was installed when basically brand new - and I've had a few tell me not to decommission it because for some people it adds value? just points up what you say - niche market and people will value it differently.

😂noted.

The main problem with lpg, apart form proper certification and insurance, is getting hold of the flipping stuff!
It used to be a lot easier.
I bought mine cos we go to France a lot and there they support lpg properly so you can fill up easily.
As it is much cheaper than petrol and the car runs more or less the same on it, I'd never ditch it, if I were you.
