many years ago the pug 406 had a cooling fan fault and touched the car some going do the road some parked up!
peugeot did do a recall i remeber one going up in the car park waiting to have a new fan fitted!!!

in the case of petrol V diesel unfortunatly it is the petrol that goes woooooof more times than not heat sheild round the cat, petrol leak from the tank, atf on the exhaust from dip stick, short in the plug leads sparks petrol soaked rag stuffed on top of engine just too add a few, best one is the guy who spends all weeked wiring up his stereo and does not want to cut a hole in the baulkhead raps it round the door hindge and wounders why it sparks and burns? lol

hi all , i thank you all for your comments but iam still waiting for constructive information as to what and start the fires ????????????? i am more than well aware of the flashpoint of petrol and lpg and i thought by asking for preventative advice to establish what causes the fires in the first place i.e. prior to ignition of combustible liquids i can then take preventative measures before this arises . but obvious by the lack of imput none of you have suffered this problem that us v8 petrol heads would suffer if the worse occured ,, i think you tractor boys must be quite jealous and envious of us having a proper beastie on the drive !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to all ,kind regards mozz :D:D:D:D

hopefully someone with more thought will come along ,and wammers and datatek i expected more of you two alas i think youv'e both been on the guinness xxx:)

If you've got one of them petrol powered mobile bombs or even worse if you're carting arouind a tank of compressed gas then the best advice is

DON'T SWITCH IT ON

DISCONNECT THE BATTERY

USE IT AS A FLOWER POT

Either that or stop flipping worrying. There are millions of cars out there and every day a few go up in flames, the rest - if properly checked and serviced - just keep on driving.

And fill the petrol tank with water to ensure there are no fumes to ignite:p

Why on gods green earth (quite a statement from an atheist) do you think i would be jealous of someone who spends more time filling his tank than driving. My oilburner as you put it, will give your Calor gas powered motor a good run for it's money any day of the week. It may not be quite as quick but it will not be far behind. I like my vehicles quiet, if i wanted to hear an engine i would put a disc of a Spitfire doing aerobatics on the cd player. Not a poxy V8 that sounds like several pigs farting. I have a proper V8 in the garage if i ever get the bastard running that is.:cool::cool:
