My P38 has a vibration at 55 to 60 MPH just like an out of balance wheel - it is felt through the body more than the steering.
I have had all four wheels balanced and it is still the same - any clues would be much appreciated

I have exactly the same problem, checked propshaft uj`s all bushes and mountings, even had a garage take a look and still can`t find a fault so i am also interested if anyone has any ideas.

It is normally the wheel balancing on the P38 as it is very sensitive to unbalanced front wheels. Mine did the same until I changed the tyres, but I was convinced it wasn't the balancing as it didn't feel like that - depsite my local garage being unable to find anything wrong I didn't beleive them! Worth a punt for a few quid at your local tyre place rather than messing about replacing expensive mechanical bits!

Have you tried swapping the wheels around - front to back?

Matt

I have tried swapping wheels around and balanced the wheels twice, as i used to work for ATS a few years ago the depot where i used to work at still let me use the machines, the wheels have been balanced to a 1g tolerance and still no better. I have noticed though the vibration comes through the body not the steering but improves when the suspension lowers itself to the motorway setting.

Hi.. just become a member. Don't know if this helps but when you say wheel wobble, i've just had to have the drag link ball joints replaced on my 2.5dt 98 RR, due to excessive play. It gave the feeling of wheel wobble/floating around on the road, more noticable at higher speeds and going over tha brow of a hill or hump back bridge. my RR has done 125000 and it's fairly common in that sort of mileage car. I got accused of poor driving!!!!!!

Hi, I had exactly the same problem with my 4.6, I spent quite some time over several days trying to find out what the problem was, It turned out that the uj's on the propshaft needed to be greased with a grease gun.
Perfect now.

Hi
I have greased the propshafts, all the discs are new, as for drag links the vibration comes through the body the steering is perfect but thanks for all the sugestions. The only thing that is strange is that the vibration stops when the suspension drops to motorway setting.
Thanks all
