Hi there,

Having a simple problem now, not sure whether it is a fuel leak or just a 4.0 symptom. Basically everytime i put fuel in, the gauge registers the fuel. Then after a short drive to say the shops, i start the engine and the fuel level drops noticably, and so on a so forth for every journey. Yes I live in London but surely i should be getting more mileage for me money?
I have run the trip computer to measure mpg and on a good run it returned between 23 - 25. There is an occasional smell of petrol, but i have had as best a look as i can and can see nothing.
Maybe this is just me feeling the prices of petrol?
Before i seek a mechanic, can anyone advise me what to look for or do to check?

many thanks

If you're gettin those figures you should be braggin not complainin!!!

Will have another look, particularily on top of the tank for fuel. I think the real problem is the price of poxy petrol. Oh dear, moan moan moan

23-25mpg around town is good. My classic maxed out at 25mpg on a run at 56mph with the torque converter locked most of the way and i was chuffed, if not somewhat late...

I would look at the tank unit properly a sticking float or it has been removed and not positioned correctly or it has lost the will to float

As others have said, your economy is bloody good.

I've had two P38's 4.0 Petrols and both returned around 8 - 10 on town or short runs. Did manage almost 14 on one run!

The LPG one I've got now gives me about about 2 miles a litre (9-10 mpg) but it is only 70p a litre!!!
