I repeat I`ve not got RAVE to hand here, but isn`t the system closed at the cap with venting via the charcoal filter in the "evaporative loss emission system"?
Ok stop the bitching I just goggled range rover have a vented fuel system. And guess what the vent valvue is in the cap, only lets air in not out. So listen to others some time and Rave does not have all the answers. The Yank can be right at times

Gonna need to replace the lambda sensors at some point as these are a fair bit passed their age limit and they don't read as well as they should.
She's still running closed loop, and couldn't imagine the lambdas being able to affect the running so much...but I might be wrong! :D

Only other thing that don't work properly is the cruise control, again didn't think this could be related.

jd , when mine was playing up my crise control wouldnt work soon as i changed the maf it worked , so why dont you do as i suggest and try another maf as i know that a lot of second hand ones dont neccasary work so trying one of a mates that runs perfect is the only way to guarrantee its not your maf and maybe save you time and wasting money !!!!! cheers mozz

mate you can lead a horse to water but its up to them to do drink it:rolleyes: at the end of the day your trying to be of some help:) wrong or right wot you said has got to be worth a quick drive round the block with out the cap on just to see if it could be that:doh::doh:

Guys,

When I undo my Fuel cap on my 1995 4.6 I get hissing for a spilt second.

However on the cap it has a warning to firstly only slightly unscrew the cap to let the tank vent itself. Once the hissing has stopped continue to fully unscrew the cap.

Are we sure about replacing the cap?

Steve
hi you will get the hissing every time if the tank gets low befor filling its just gas not a problom:D.. i think wot there saying about the cap is that it needs to let air in but the hole might be blocked and is makeing the car mess about when driveing.
