My P38 (which I recently purchased) is asking for the security code. After talking to my local dealer I got the code 1222. Sadly this doesn't work, so I'm thinking about putting a new unit in it's place which will let me have digital radio and ipod connectivity.

Firstly is there a way round the code in the short term? Secondly what is the best way of wiring in a new unit to the existing speaker set up? I am not fussy about what it looks like, but would like to make it look like it's meant to be there.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

there are adaptors you can buy from halfords etc to connect stereos, i put my dvd in and it went straight in apart from the old phone connection but it has been removed anyway. i think the standard connection is called iso. also the stereo has to have the code then i think you have to press number 1 again so it will make your code 12221. have a search for the correct procedure!!

i also bought a p38 and the original radio works fine but the boot changer just refuses.looks simple enough to replace with new kit,may leave a space on dash as oiginal radio unit has a cover???

Is it the Clarion unit ? If so, first try pressing the band button until asks for code, if this fails just leave it on until it clears, usually an hour. Again if its Clarion you can have MP3/Ipod input very cheaply.

I have got the code problem sorted, thanks for your help. Now if I want my ipod connected, and I've read all the old posts, and I want to control the ipod from the controls on the steering wheel, what are my options? I have a hardon karmen clarion unit, which sounds fantastic, and I'd like to keep it :)

I put an after market stereo in mine and wired it up to the HK kit already in the car (using the power antenna cable to power up the amps) good sound with mp3 connectivity (not that I use it). Halfords do two spacers that fills the holes either side in the console for about 8 quid.
