p38 sport tailgate conversion

Exactly. I've spent the last few months designing a three axis plasma cutting table for work. It's taking an horrendous amount of my own time and is by no means going to be cheap to build, but the actual design work and modeling on the cad has been fascinating. We could go buy one off the shelf - but wheres the fun in that ???

Id love to know where you could buy another p38 tax and tested with lpg for £500 ill buy another !
 
I've spent far more on playing with cars than I've ever got back from them. Do I regret it? No, it's all about the journey and the end result.You can't put a price on fulfilment.

If the whole world used that logic we'd still be living in caves.

I bet you've modded your cars in the past, your house, hell, you've built your own kite. Why? It probably cost more in parts/time than you made in value of the item.

I've taken a van racing in the past, the van cost £200, cost £1,200 to get ready for racing and was worth £143.67 in scrap after I was finished. So why do it? For the experience and the adventure. Mostly, because it was fun.

Not knocking it. But have been there, and spent lots of money on projects that on reflection may not have been the best ideas i ever had. If he likes to fiddle and it gives him pleasure sorting through the problems why not do it. It's just not something i would contemplate anymore. In later years he may look back and say why the hell did i do that?
 
a few update pics on how the p38 sport conversion is going on,taking sum doing but past the point of no return! had to get the rear quaters from a sport as back lights just wouldnt fit.

Looking good mate, I love doing this kind of thing to my cars and vans,, I'd do my p38 if I had the parts, keep it going mate and I look forward to seeing it done, I know you are not doing it for money it's just great to make something fit for scrap a headturner and give it some extra life, I have just been doing a transit up which was rusted to bits and I am making it into something that gets me compliments which is always great as you can say to yourself "I did that" yes you could save up and buy a sport but so can anyone, not everyone has the skill to build their own,

Its going to be painted frozen white with everything colour coded,and 20'' black sport alloys on spacers,i have sport front wings which im going to bond over the top of the originalsand all the door pods etc,alot of time but it will look bout as close as you can get a p38 to a sport!
