Hi Guys

I hope you are all well.

I was hoping for some help with my speakers in my 2002 p38.

I cannot receive any sound from the back speakers.::(
I have only had the car for 6 weeks and have not noticed there was no sound before. I had thought the sound system was weak from when i bought it but only noticed the problem yesterday. The system is Harman something or other.

I have tried the balance and fader on the head unit.
Before i start to remove panels etc does anyone have any tips on where to start.

kind regards
Daz

The Harman Kordon system suffers from amplifier problems. Sometimes damp, sometimes just old age. I don't believe that there is anyone repairing them and I have heard of a breaker with a waiting list for them.

Have a look at yours and you might be lucky with just corroded connections but be careful.

I have taken out the head unit today and there are only 2 sets of speaker cables.

I tested them with a 1.5 v battery and got noise from each front speaker.

Does this mean there are no speakers in the back ?????

hi

I have had the head unit out today and only found 2 sets of speaker cables

I tested these and got noise from both front speakers

Does this mean there are no rear speakers ?????

Sorry mate but are you certain that they're speaker cables? If you have got a Harmon Kordon system there should be an amp, if not amps in each door.

If they are indeed just speaker connections then it's possible that a previous owner has had the amp fail and has done a bodge. If they are connected to the pre-amp outputs then that might explain the poor sound that you say you're getting.
