Has anyone changed their regular number plates to the square type ones on their P38 Rangey? Did yo do front and back, or just back? Got any pictures? Any issues with attatching them etc?

Many thanks

Gary

Good thought. I did on my classic vogue as the personalised reg number had greater appeal as a two line presentation, but the tail gate was as flat a pancake. My p38's away being LPG'd at the moment and I've forgotten what it looks like! We can compare notes on its return. regards P.S

Looked into this, now. The statutory height of the square rear plate is 203mm.
The minimum border betwixt graphics and edge is 11mm. If you put a plate starting in the plate recess on the tail gate you'd shut the top in the top gate seal. Thus the tops of the graphics would be concealed partialy by the gate. If you were content to break the law by being creative with sizing and arrangement it still looks mickey mouse, in my opinion. To build the recess up to a point where the whole plate could be accomodated, again, still looks mickey mouse [in my opinion]. I've just settled for the deeper option of a standard wide plate. regards P.S

Yeah I measured up last week and saw it wa a fair bit off - was going to use a scrap plate and trim the smallest possible amount of yellow from top and bottom and see how it looks.

Legal motorbike plates seem to be smaller than car ones, that'd possibly fit and look OK, but it might not. Need to start experimenting, else like you, I'll just consign myself to the long format, which will still read OK for my reg.

How about the slightly smaller square plates that are used on some Jap grey import vehicles? That might fit OK and be sort of legalish ;)
