Hi,
i need to route a power cable from the battery to the rear of the car. but looking at the plastic panels on the floor, it doesnt seem to easy to remove, and i dont know if i could hide a cable under there!

has anybody routed a cable to the back before?

how did you do it?

Paul

Easy peasy! Don't go from the battery, go from the front post of the BECM under seat. Then unscrew tread panels from floor, and slip cable under carpet till you get to rear wheel arch. Then remove trim panel in front of wheel arch/beside seat and feed cable into space behind panel on side of boot. Remove boot panel add fuse and you're ready to go!

oh ok.

what size is the wire on the BECM.

the wire i am trying to route is 0awg, which is pretty FAT wire.

what do you think?

Paul

im just thinking that i have the 0awg wire to take the most amount of power possible from my batt to my amp. but if im taking the power from the BECM, firstly it is sharing the power between the BCEM and the amp. 2ndly i dont think that the BECM would have a 0awg wire powering it.

it is a brilliant idea, but not my my purpose as im going for a big big sound system.

thank you so much for your input!

do you know how i can get through the firewall?
Paul

If you're sure you wanna go from the battery, the best bet is probably along the top of the chassis rail to the very rear, then up through the grommet in the corner, the one meant for the towbar electrics, saves having to go through the bulkhead at all.

i might sound dumb. but where is the chassis rail?

Paul
The chassis rails run the whole length of the car underneath, they're big steel box section. If you run cable down from battery inside engine bay to the rail, just behind drivers side air bag, then cable tie your cable on the TOP side of the rail, between rail and body, it will protect it from getting hooked up on anything offroad.

ok, cheers mate. illl see if i get time tomorrow to have a go at it!

thanks for al your help.. ill let you know how i get on.

Paul

i got a p38 diesel auto and i run 0 gauge wire to boot from battery ok where mine is auto i drilled a hole in the bulk head where the clutch cable would normally come thru is visable when looking from drivers side when bonnet open then i came under the steering colum to the side panel by bonnent release down there and underneath all the plastic trim by the doors-carpet cable fits under there no probs the only prob i came up against was my battery wasnt in tiptop condition and when the bass surged and sapped the power it took the immobilzer code out of the becm and it needed a relearn(£40) put a new battery on and its been ok ever since (2x15" rockford subs, 2x1000 watt fusion amps 2x500 watt fusion amps to run uprated front and rear door speakers dvd player and rear screens) so go have some fun and annoy the neighbours

oh no, i cant believe the power surged and reset the BECM!

i ended up running the 0awg across the top of the chassis rail.
Once i found out where to route the cable to the battery everything else was easy. the cables runs to the boot, and out of the cover which houses the petrol cap manual release.

thanks for the help guys, its really appreciated!

Paul
